altering or redoing the original textures

I got a question, maybe a silly one but is it ok to change the original textures for use back in the game? for new maps i mean, for example…

I need to make a sign to show where a Maintenance area is, and instead of creating a new texture for it, I took an original texture and altered it. Since the original texture looked really good and would fit along side the other textures of the same style the game already has.

The texture s_casemate02 here

I edited it so that it would now be my maintenance sign but made shure it was renamed wartung.tga in my textures folder im using for my map.

I know i have seen altered textures in other community maps, but i’d like to be shure if it’s allowed. I did a search for anything related on altered textures or redoing them but found nothing. it is a piece of original game media thats been changed, so i’d like to know for shure if it’s ok.

If it’s from the original game ET and not a redoing of code, and meant to be used in a map for the game, then it should be ok? And yes… I could have designed a whole new sign instead of using an original, but those signs have a lot of style to them.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanx in advance.

You can always edit game content for use in the same game (as long as you save the new content in your own directories).

That’s good to hear, thanks.

Besides being the maintenance room where burly greased up guy’s hang out to sit on crates, burp and drink coffee and generally laze off… it’s also the secret society of NO HOMERS!!!
