Is this something to do with my system? Nothing has changed on my end, except for maybe since 1 or possibly 2 updates ago I am afraid to alt + tab out of the game. I would say at least 33% of the time I alt + tab now the game crashes. I used to be able to do it non-stop as often as I wanted.

I’ve not had any reports about alt/tabbing = game crashing. I also alt tab out of the game a few hundred times a day 
If you do continue to have this issue, contact customer support so they can investigate further.
