Alright, I'm Done......Now Where's My DLC?

(Zarel) #21

I’m still hooked to the game, but yeah, I’m starting to have this itch that only the DLC would fix. :stuck_out_tongue:
Finished my Achievements. Took my time, worked through 4 level 20s specializing in each class, left soldier for last to gain ‘It’s a Trap!’ as my last Achievement. Have had some great games with new players I’ve met and some absolutely horrific games with nothing but bots.

Now I’m getting bored…

People tell me to work on 4 more characters or at least two that specify on two classes, or at least one multi-classer. Frankly, doesn’t sound like much fun. I’ve earned and used every ability in the game.

I know new scenarios can pop up in different games, but there’s little of that and a whole lot more “same old” stuff.

Many gamers have knocked over the achievements AGES ago and there’s a few that have knocked over 10 lvl 20s (nodding to Lago). I knew we would have to wait at least some time for DLC so I took my time.

But this game does not seem to be designed for longevity in its current state. DLC is a MUST for this game as there is no campaign to switch between MP and the challenges get REAL old REAL quick.

Please! For the love of Mod! Bring on the DLC! Surely MS have given some idea of a release date!
i do think itll be tomorrow but thats just theory for you… thatll be the 5th so tomorrow? im not sure
i know what you mean, i enjoy levelling up too. but back in the good days you would play games for years that didnt even have unlocks. games like UT were down to skill, not loadouts or abilities/perks etc.

i like playing with my level 20s but i wanted 4 level 20s so they can all be different.
That was so well said. With all these new shooters that make you strive to get more and more xp, in order to unlock stuff, like COD or Reach, the old “just play to win the game” is sadly dying. So many people on this forum have played RTCW, and Enemy Territory, and complain Brink isn’t like these games. Hey I played these 2 games more than any other ever, as in I have played RTCW exclusively for 4 years! I could play for an entire day, forgetting to eat or to breathe sometimes lol. Was there any unlockables or levels or experience altogether? No, we all played to win and get better at the game, to win even more often.

The biggest fun I had actually was to always switch to the weaker team and make them win. Its awesome to own a team 1 or 2 rounds, switch to the weak side then help them win. It helps eliminating rage quitters, its quite a challenge and it helps you developping your skill further. Its funny because all these games I’ve been playing, like Gears of War, or COD, or Reach, I never really felt like going on the other side to help. Since I was gaining way more XP staying on the strong side, I lost the desire to help out the underdogs.

With Brink, when I reached lvl 20 with my 2 hybrids (med/eng, ops/soldier), I was still bummed to see the 0XP at the end of the match. However, after getting used to it, it allowed me to reconnect with the fun I once had of playing the game just to get better and have good games with other players.

I am now playing solely for fun, not to level up a character or to get unlockables or anything else, and I’m having tons of it. You guys should try it, its awesome!

It is annoying that you cant keep earning xp after you reach lv 20. Also, anyone know if the new abilites will be lv 24?

(Jimmy James) #25

Assuming they add a “Rank 6” and you get a new rank every four levels, then probably.

Very well said. Also, as much as possible I try to switch to the team that has less players. There are times where I just roll with my Fireteam even if we outnumber the other team, but when its 8 of us vs 2 (real players) it is just ridiculous to not switch teams (IMO). Like you said it cuts down on rage quitters and allows people to actually enjoy Brink. If we want people to stick with Brink we need to stop stacking teams.

You are not wrong…it is sad.

But we have been spoilt nowadays. We’ve mixed FPS with MMO and come out the other side with…UNLOCKABLES! There is just too much temptation!

It’s good that there are plenty of players out there who DO enjoy a game for just that: The Game. But I’ve gone to the dark side. The “completionist” side…

Damn you Bungie.

(its al bout security) #31

its to be expected. damn bungie!

but really i do feel like ever since release that the game was incoomplete and SD is just putting these things back in now.

like on the trailer, look a bayonet! then we get our game

no bayonet

then we come to see the DLC oh look the bayoney yaaeeh [depressed]

I’d rather things got cut from the release and fixed for later release than have them in and not working. The release had enough bugs as it was so I’m OK with them getting core things fixed before adding more complications.
Hopefully SD will have gained a lot of experience from this and their next game will come out smoother and better for it (please switch publishers though).

SD may gain a lot of experience from Brink. But I think their consumers have also gained a lot of experience from SD.

(NewBlueWorld) #34

Yes! Whats the fun in being like 7-8 humans owning 2-3 humans + 5 bots? Usually one or two players that switch sides is enough to get a balanced game with the roughly the same amount of humans on either side, and these games are always so much better. I hate being owned because we’re not enough humans or owning a team of mostly bots…

I want a GOAL when playing game. Rarely it’s too level up (even though that does increase my play time). Most of the time it’s to get more skill in the game. In a game like brink levels don’t last too long, and what skill pfffft

(its al bout security) #36

oh wait your still here?

(BROTOX) #37

They can realisticly only raise the level cap and amount of abilities that come with it so high before the battlefield becomes too over congested with gadgets and such.

(its al bout security) #38

look all they need left to add is one more type of mine for my engi so my team of all engis can lay 48 mines

(nick1021) #39

oh wait you still can’t provide a decent counter-argument.

(Jimmy James) #40

Frankly, I find the level up dynamic and weapon/weapon mod unlock solo challenge requirements to be a huge break from the previous Enemy Territory style of play. But now that I have everything unlocked and a bunch of max level characters it feels a lot more like ET.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is that Brink, much like its ET predecessors, is about kicking the opponents’ ass, not XP or leveling.
