allow only one person to interact with the objective

(seriousDial) #1

The one who interact first takes priority. If a mechanic comes along and repair/defuse, all non-mechanics interaction with the objective will be cancel.

Please… I’m pulling my hair out watching a bunch of Skyhammers reparing when a proxy is already doing it.

(watsyurdeal) #2

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ADD THIS ALREADY, FUCK!

(Anaconda) #3

They need to do way allow more than one person to fix repair. If two or more then repair go faster. It has been this way in many other titles.

(Ghosthree3) #4

I dunno, I never ever found this a difficult concept to understand. I don’t know how people haven’t learned yet.

Not a terrible feature to add or anything just…unnecessary. Or rather, should be unnecessary.

(bontsa) #5

Well. Whoops? scribblescribble Nothing to see here.

(bontsa) #6

Play this for anyone trying to uselessly interact with objective X.

On a loop.

Cut in 0.5 seconds.

For the entire time they try to press interract.

Ugh.

(watsyurdeal) #7

Or people could just learn to defend someone while they are planting, defusing, or repairing, you know, Team Work.

Plus what you suggested would destroy the entire point behind having Engineers.

(Amerika) #8

There is a message that pops up saying a teammate is already repairing but I do agree it should just not be allowed or remove the progress bar and make the message rather large. I mean, I know it should be pretty obvious that you should stop repairing but it should also be pretty obvious that you shouldn’t help up downed teammates as as skyhammer in the middle of a fight…but it still happens all the time.

(D'@athi) #9

Hmm, you could make it part of teh tutorial everyone skips… uhm wait…

Nah, I agree that simply stopping the interaction would be indeed the best solution.

This “teammate repairing”-msgs we got now, could also mean, that you are doing some teamaction, and get som boni for it, etc.
Just think about this situation… Someone (non-engi) repairing, an engi comes by, and this guy now sees a much faster moving progressbar and gets the msg “teammate repairing”.
What did this beginner, not knowing much about classes, not even beeing in the tutorial, he didn’t watch, just learn? Right… repairing together is faster.

OP, why in the world did you disagree to this comment?

(MTLMortis) #11

I always tell my team when I’m defusing/planting/whatever as an objectivist.

“Repping, cover me”

“I got this [insert class slowly repairing/planting]”

It’s 50/50 chance they’ll stop and start covering me.

This is very true. The game shouldn’t have to force you to use some sense. Perhaps the message of “Teammate repairing” could make it more apparent that they aren’t being helpful OR getting any credit for the repair, or something. Overall it’s still something I struggle to see why people don’t just understand already.

Alternatively, allow toggling of friendly fire. I’ll fix it.

(Reddeadcap) #13

What sucks the most is that there are so many obvious signs, a teammate saying it, the fact you tool isn’t moving, the icon telling you someone else is on it, etc.

(capriRocket) #14

when i started playing i actually thought that repairing together was faster, i even saw the bar going up faster so it made sense :expressionless: the bar needs no vanish and the text should say something like “other teammate is repairing” or anything more obvoius.
please dont make fun of me!

Is agreeing to this post now making fun of you, or not making? Darn this all to heck.

But yes, for the love and splatter of everything that is holy or demigodly in this world, @SplashDamage @Nexon @MissMurder @FlyingSpaghettiMonster it has to be made ton more vivid sign that it is simply waste of everyone’s time, resources, sanity and coffee to stack objectives besides EV escort.

Whew. Why thank you for letting me vent that out, helps me so I can go back to no-level-cap servers now that all minlvl10’s are empty again.

(D'@athi) #16

Yep, it has to be made much clearer. We simply can’t expect new players to be able to add one and one “on the fly”, while playing this game, beeing much faster, than they are used to.

Even having played many games including ET and the other stuffs, it took a few maps to learn them, and then getting really to know how the game works.
Ok, givin this repairing and disarming stuff, I knew it from ET, and it was, clearly for me, a kinda solo-action. But you can’t expect beginners and to be honest, kids playing this game, to understand it right away, especially with much more popular games around, doing the exact opposite.

(MarsRover) #17

This. Especially the sanity part. Lately I start to nervously chuckle every time I hear all those Rhinos, Auras and Skyhammers shouting “repairing the objective” and huddling together with my Bushwhacker/Proxy…

(Backuplight) #18
when i started playing i actually thought that repairing together was faster, i even saw the bar going up faster so it made sense
I guess if you’re a non-engineer and the bar starts going up faster because a “second merc” (who is an engie) has started repairing, it might look like they’re helping rather than taking over. The moment you’ve played an engie, I’d like to believe people would just know that’s what is happening.

I’m all for making it “clearer” I’m just still baffled that it feels necessary to do so.

(mrlong2) #19

If fewer than the difference of the engie and non-engine repair time is remaining, don’t stop repairing, otherwise boot them out.

well yeah, it baffles ME that the game would use yellow text for a notification that youre doing something useless when yellow is associated with good things all over the game.
along with no effort to just friggen hide the progress bar and no thought about how you can change the word “repair” into many different meanings.

teammate repairs ev: is talking about my teammate from third person, this clearly does not involve me.
the other way to read repairs is as the noun but that makes no sense.

teammate repairing: is an action that can include multiple players.
it can also mean only he is repairing but then why is there no “is” or an “already” or just plain “repairs ev”.

i didnt start playing an engineer until i had like 50-100h logged. mostly playing medics. dont blame me, the developer responsible for this clearly wasnt thinking this trough.
an “is” or an “already” is not considered screen clutter in that situation as you are not in combat anyway. it can only make the message more clear.

ps. make the text red and add some precious letters to make the message clear D:
