Allow Multiple of the Same Merc But Different Loadout In Same Squad

(jjpdn) #1

Title, because I found that some mercs get loadouts that are quite different from each other, like Aura.

Now, before you object, think carefully about why you object and please give a reason other than “its not essential”.

I think by blocking it they are encouraging players to have a diverse roster, that said, I don’t really disagree with you. it could come in handy.

@tuscanPhone
That’s a really good idea!
Share that.

(MrSoUndso) #4

I like the Idea.

This guy deserves more than 1 cookie.

Quite a simple and good idea.

That means you could have three Fletchers!

Three Fletchers. Think about it.

Why would someone want 3 variants of one bad merc?

(Samniss_Arandeen) #8

I’d really only use it if I wanted to compare two different loadouts to see which I preferred. Still a good idea though.

(Bestfinlandball) #9

I like it. I wouldn’t use it, but i like it

(Ritobasu) #10

No. Switching augments and primaries can be a huge game changer, make a commitment to your card choice and stick with it for the rest of the match.

(LifeupOmega) #11

Maybe then shotguns will actually be the true situational weapon they’re destined to be, I can use a shotgun on Underground first, then switch to an SMG on last where it’ll be better to.

Then we can stop needlessly buffing shotguns too.

(blisteringOwlNest) #12

@Ritobasu I disagree as having a lack of class diversity can be devastating, in pubs anyway. Nothing’s worse then no one packing an engi, and that risk is higher with this idea.

While changing primaries definitely changes things, you change them anyway when you change merc. And augments 9/10 times won’t help win matches.

(Ritobasu) #13

Lack of class diversity is always a problem in pubs, not sure why you’d want to make it even worse but that’s beside the point

Changing primaries on the same merc definitely makes a difference. Would you treat a PDP Vassili the same way you deal with a MOA/Felix one? An Aura with the Hollunds vs Blishlok? A M62 Fragger with Explodey/Unshakeable vs K51? Hell no, because switching cards and augments can be used to make up for another card’s weakness. People only want this change so they can stick to playing one chara under the veil of " but it’s good for a healthy and diverse experience," when it does the exact opposite.

(Jesus) #14

Do you want to have noobies with three vassilis in squad because thats how you get noobies with three vassilis in squad

(RyePanda) #15

Ehhh… no. I don’t want people having a triple Vassili or Rhino squad when they could bring a medic or objective specialist or anything else at all really.

(Dawnlazy) #16

It might make shotguns more viable since you could use it on a part of the map that favors it and then switch. On the other hand…

(HandsyMoose) #17

I think that we should be allowed the same merc with different loadouts in our squad. I’d love to be able to use my hochfir & hollunds on my Proxy in the same match depending on when I’m fighting mostly at distance or cqc while still being able to lay mines.

Sadly if this feature was ever added, trolls would abuse the piss out of it :frowning:

The thing is, these people wouldn’t play anything else anyway. Just look at the enemy team after a match and you’ll see how few people actually change their merc.

(jjpdn) #19

I don’t see really any use in saying “class diversity”, because it doesnt happen anyways. You’re not forced to bring a diverse squad, though the quests REALLY help. Ergo, this change will not negatively affect squad diversity at all.
For example, I normally bring a squad of 2/3 medics (Aura, Phoenix or Sparks) and a quest merc.

Hm… it would be actually great if there was a “Diverse Squad” quest every rotation, where you have to bring a squad that is 100% diverse.
