AllocWinding failed: MAX_POINTS_ON_WINDING exceeded
It is listed as both WindingFromDrawSurf failed and AllocWinding failed from the ref. I’m using.
“Often happens when you have a lot of brushes touching one brush, like 64 (which is meant to the the limit )all touching the same brush. Which if you can imagine you have made a wall and have 64 brushes up against it you will probably receive this error, so try to cut them down to less.”
Erm… So could it be the missile brush I made? It consisted of a cylinder brush with something like 80 sides lol, and on top of it was a cone. And if these 80 sides of the cylinder touch the cone, I will receive this error?
from www.katsbits.com :
AllocWinding failed: MAX_POINTS_ON_WINDING exceeded
What does this mean************ ERROR ************
AllocWinding failed: MAX_POINTS_ON_WINDING exceeded [mehoo]A : imagine the first square is you looking at the end of a brush. the face has 4 vertices.
now, in the second picture, we have another brush, the face which you can see is co-planar with the first face, such that the two vertices touch one edge of the face. the compiler will split that edge on the first face and add the two vertices shown in green to it, making it now have 6 vertices. with multiple repeated brushes, this can quickly build up to the max of 64.
Hmm yea it was the missile.
Anyway, just one off-topic question. What could cause a wall to turn “see through” or invisible? Because I have a wall, which looks normal in the editor but when I go in game the other side of the wall is invisible, which means I can see through it, but the other side still got the wall texture… This is not caused by another brush being inside my wall. So what the hell is causing this graphical error? It seems to happen always in the same spot, even tho Ive somehow managed to fix it a couple of times…
