All Things Phoenix

(GottaBeGreg) #41

I’ve been playing a lot of Phoenix and playing with a lot of people playing Phoenix recently, and I have an improvement that I believe that no one would have a problem with.

I believe that his healing pulse should give off a louder audio cue. This would allow teammates to group around the healing Phoenix and the enemy to focus more one said Phoenix.

Anyways, its just a thought. Thanks for reading.

So, there’s one thing I noticed about Phoenix. He’s kinda…blue. More than once, I looked at him, saw that he was blue, and ignored him. Then found out he wasn’t on my team when he shot me. His red aura was almost completely overridden in the heat of the moment by his blaringly blue helmet. It could be a little easier to make the distinction, so when he kills me I don’t feel like I got hit by an unexpected Spy, rather than a significantly better player than me (which he probably is anyway)

fenix is just purfect yes yes nuf said good merc good guy

SUGGESTION: Pheonix’s healing pulse gives team inside a larger radius of the instant heal a constant healing over time effect making it harder to completely fail a team heal and healing those you may not have seen.

Anyone notice that Phoenix has rapidly become the most played medic? Seriously, the number of Sawbonez in game has dropped dramatically, and the other ones you see less too.

I think it’s because Phoenix has similar abilities, but one of them he can use on the fly and on top of that he has the unique revive ability. That’s pretty good.

Aazhyd;
Repost this if this remains true after he comes off free rotation. At the moment people just want to try out the new merc and they have a free oppurtunity to do so.

Give it some time and I think you’ll rarely see him…

Ah, I never know what the rotation is, since I got all the mercs already.

I’ve seen a lot of people claiming that Sawbonez is strictly better than Phoenix, but I think they’re missing one important aspect of Ph and that’s that he can heal teammates WHILE they’re taking damage.

If your teammate is on low health and is taking heavy fire with little to no cover, you can’t heal him with a Sawbonez med pack - as soon as he starts the healing process all it takes is one bullet for that process to instantly halt and for the medpack to be wasted. On the other hand, Phoenix can instantly heal that low health teammate by a considerable amount and have their health gain even if they take a bullet immediately after the pulse.

It’s just one more benefit to Phoenix that I don’t think gets mentioned enough.

That said, I’m still unsure which of them is the best medic in the game…

@Aazhyd mouse over the mercs in the squad screen, free rotation mercs have a blue description popup while the rest is grey.

Pheonix can work double duty as a stealth class. He’s my favorite medic because of this. He can get past areas which would normally be impossible and thus ignored, and that’s why I favor the class.

Phoenix needs to get an ungibbable revive once he has activated his ability. Otherwise it’s useless and only good when there is nobody around, what’s the point? Doesn’t feel nice to be camped by an adversary that just got you to wait for your revive and gib you in that window where you’ll lose your cool down and won’t get revived.

I know many will say one has to chose one’s moment for reviving, but I believe that the enemy should be punished for not managing to gib before the ability got activated. They already proved with altering the revive up time of Spark’s revives that individual reviving mechanics are feasible, so why not make Phoenix’s ability a proper one?
