'aiteam' - side effect

(kat) #1

can’t find the original post this was in so…

there is an unusual side effect when using the [i]aiteam[i/] key/value pair to team up AI’s in SP, they start firing at each other…!

Think of the radio room in escape2 (or 1) if the soldiers in the radio room were given one team number (aiteam - 5) and the sniper on the parapet another (aiteam - 7), they attack each other if they spot an AI from the ‘opposing team’, the other ‘team’ is seen as a ‘enemy’… so you have to be careful as to who makes the cut and plays for what team…

Why dont you just erm, put them in the same team then?

I will do now… I was just testing it to see what happened if they were on different team numbers…
…could use this ‘side effect’ to have the zombies attack the Nazi’s (etc…) without necessarily setting up some complicated scripting…! (depending on storyline of course…!)

nothing to add your honour… except… maybe quake3bits?? Is that alright??

Its not a side-effect because if you don’t have aiteam’s some creatures will naturally fight each other. The AITEAM function is to stop them fighting each other.
