Airstrike direction behavior.

There’s one little quirk of the airstrike canister I wanted to discuss, not sure if this bugs other people.

As it is now the airstrike comes from right to left, perpendicular from where you threw it.

I’m not sure about ET, but in Quake Wars the path was chosen from where you are when the canister pops.

This allowed the FOps to do things like throw a close range airstrike, then sprint quickly to set the direction. Often times I’d end up dying right where I wanted to be when the canister pops, and the enemy was less sure of where the strike was coming from. It’s essentially like cooking grenades, but with field position. Cool, right?

I keep goofing up from old habit, but it also seems like it has a bit more depth to tactic. I don’t know if this even matters to other people, it’s pretty trivial.

I like the fact that it goes perpendicular to what you are when you throw it. I liked the ET:QW one too, but I just adapted to this quite easily. There are little lights on the ground so you always know which way it’s going to go anyway, so no sneaky sneaky in this game (not yet at least).

I prefer the new method actually, means I don’t have to be glued to the spot for several seconds whilst waiting for the canister to pop.

And it’s not quite the same as cooking a nade, because nade cooking is done whilst not in the line of fire, whereas airstrike throwing/positioning is almost invariably done whilst in the line of fire.

I like the way it works in ET but it also work like it’s currently done. Like Seanza said it’s difficult to call sneaky airstrike that way, I kind of miss this.

i still managed to take out two team mates on saturday with my first strike - so clearly it’s still not obvious to everyone

On the OP, I’m kinda like the idea of being able to direct it post-throw - it isnt always the case that the best position for throwing it will equal the best strike path.

I put that down to poor throwing mate
