Aimee SNITCH Device Spots & Thoughts

(Melinder) #1

I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed opinions on the viability of Aimee’s SNITCH Device. More often than not I hear people saying that it isn’t that great as it isn’t difficult to find. However there are a fair few i’ve spoken to saying they think it’s too strong, and with the right positioning, near impossible to find. I agree with the latter, but there is no doubt that if you look hard enough you will find it.

Below I have posted a link to a small gallery of screenshots showing some of the spots I use with a VERY HIGH success rate (i.e most of the time not found, or netting a large sum of kills before it is found).

Had hardly used the PDP before Aimee’s release. Current stats:

I believe that in it’s current state, the SNITCH Device is not working as it is intended to. I am 99% certain that it is NOT meant to track with an infinite vertical range. A lot of these spots are likely to not work once the SNITCH Device is fixed.

These screenshots were taken in a Local Server. If anybody would like any information on how to setup their own Local Server, and customize available Mercs/Abilities, feel free to add me on Steam at steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198055603168/

well done!
I didn’t know SNITCH has such a large effective range honestly…

Indeed. It is unknown to many that, at it’s current state (unsure if this is the “intended state”), it has an infinite vertical spotting range. Basically, no matter how high it is, if somebody walks directly under it, they’re spotted.

It’s more about its vertical range. The vertical range of this thing is kinda ridiculous.

I suspect some kind of glitch. I don’t think that tossing the device almost into the skybox and earn debilitations nontheless was the basic idea.

Yep, it seems like the snitch device has only a horizontal radius. Thus allowing preposterous placement on high wall or roof in underground.

From what I can tell, there is no Vertical Range, it’s simply as high as you can put it. From the small amounts of testing I’ve conducted, the range is a spherical shape. Its just the vertical range “bug” thats making this ability a controversial topic.

The infinite vertical range is a bug and they will fix it soon.

Heh. Let’s just fix that verticality issue and we’re good.

Infinite z axis is just how the UE3 engine handles this type of thing, it’ll be a pain to fix I imagine but who knows. Right now it makes it a lot of fun on Underground

(PDP is broken easy to use anyway.)

I got lucky enough to find [SD]Exedore in game today. Exedore confirms that Aimee’s SNITCH device having infinite vertical range is a glitch. The issue was also already reported a couple of times. I think we can expect that bug to be fixed with the next update (or a bit later. Who knows…).

(XavienX) #11

Wait, what happens if you toss it up towards the sky? Noob right now cause I don’t own her.

(Mrarauzz) #12

@Xavien debilitate the moon people

(OmaGretel) #13

The snitch device doesn’t have unlimited fuel. It will fall simply down after a while.

(Kakutov) #14

62% accuracy. Thats suspicious.

Over 3k kills in 10 hours? VAC!

(bontsa) #16

@NxA_Noxie There’s some work for you and/or Naxxus… Just to nudge a little, looks like Exedore apparently has been informed already.

Aimee is my second best xp/min merc at the moment (1030xp/min). I think most of it comes down to smart snitch placement, but guns she has do give her plenty of opportunity to rack up a serious amount of kills. Currently sitting at 4.9 kills per min with Aimee after 7 hours with the Grandeur at 58% accuracy. With that in mind, is the infinite vertical thing a bug or feature? I have a funny feeling it is going to get nerfed in the next patch, because I’m finding it is a little ridiculous to find if you don’t have bomb squad.

(watsyurdeal) #18

She may soon become my new favorite merc. I’m really getting a good feel for her and I love the grandeur with her speed.

(bontsa) #19

As @Eox said right couple posts above, he had met Exedore (lead game designer of DB) and got an answer that it is indeed a bug. Which is pretty obvious, infinite vertical range is goddamn ridiculous. Overall pretty much only counter to anyone smart using Snitch is to run a bomb squad card, which should not be the case in my opinion.

(Langbardr) #20

So, you had right about the unintentional infinite vertical range of the Snitch. It had been nerfed.

What about the fact that Spotter is not effective on Aimee’s Snitch ? Is that true ?
