I’d go with much better as i’ve played against them quite a few times or at least one of them, and i’ve seen them have bad games as well…at least in terms of kdr. Skill probably comes into it to some degree in that context as if the teams are unbalanced, then you’ll definitely get a kicking. At the same time I just can’t blame it for the random nature since i’ll also have good games and bad, but things like the above when you heard 4 headshots ring out, plus some body shots, and the guy still takes you out. Something isn’t right. It could even be the hit sounds since there are lots of times when someone will strafe across my bullets and it’s dead silence. Surely one must have hit?! I think i’ll try playing with the sounds off and see how that goes for a bit
Aim
At least im not the only one feeling that gunplay feels wonky. This game leaves me mentality exhausted, and not in a good way. I’ll say this you wont see any more ingame rants from me. Putting on some good music, holding down lmb and hope I hit something
I’m really not feeling that anymore. A patch or two ago I’d have agreed that whole clips seemed to miss, but i put that down to the vagaries of the yet to be optimised netcode. As it is I think this patch has improved things - though you’ll still run into the problem of asymmetry between mercs (eg. sawbonez v rhino) making things feel slightly unbalanced.
I’ve always had the random feeling from DB - one match you seem to not be able to miss and the next the reverse, not really experienced this in other games. Also sneaking up on a player and shooting them in the back is usually death for you not them - headshots don’t seem to do headshot damage, especially on heavies. Certain weapons are OP at the moment (shotguns being the main culprit). Backstabs are another thing - they used to kill outright but I find its rarely the case.
It’ll need a bit more research but, funny thing is, I changed my fov to 120 from 90 today, just to see what that would be like and whilst I can’t say it’s really ‘cured’ anything, it has made it a lot better. I’ve also changed my engineer class to shotgun which is also giving me a better chance of surviving 1 on 1 or 1 on 2’s. From that it seems like there is probably a combination of problems i:e hit register, maybe lag comp, over-powered mercs, under-powered mercs, etc
