EDIT: The issue has been resolved. Interrupted game update was the problem and verifying the game cache fixed it.
I know I should be posting this in technical support, but I want somebody to actually see it.
Not many people go there and the forums home page is the worst.
Here’s the issue.
After the last update (March 16) my game crashes when I try to join a match, sometimes on the loading screen, sometimes before that.
It happens every time I try to join a server via the Server browser, no matter the game mode.
It happens every time when I use Quick join for Objective and Stopwatch, but not for Execution. Haven’t tried ranked.
Basically I can only join execution matches and only via Quick join. Everything else leads to a game crash.
Such a thing has never happened to me, I’m not sure if the game ever crashed actually. Maybe a couple of times since I started playing.
I haven’t changed anything in the game files. Only thing was that ShooterEngine.ini was set to read only because I did some changes long time ago. Never had a problem with it. It doesn’t affect the issue if it’s read only or not though.
Another piece of info I can give (seems irrelevant, but still) is that when I was updating the game through Steam earlier today the power in my house went off. I managed to successfully update the game later, at least it seemed like that.
Any ideas? What can be done about this?
There are two more issues.
The menu started lagging in fullscreen; and I can’t seem to turn off Thread sync (again!) - it automatically reverts it to “on”.
If I remember correctly OneFrameThreadLag should be set to TRUE in ShooterEngine.ini for Thread sync to actually be off. Right?
