AFK farmers

(FireWorks) #1

So this guy and his jump script… I guess I cant call his name out here, but Id like to describe how he affects the game for the dozens of players around.

But first what he does? He joins a server, launchs his script to jump every once in while to not get afk-kicked and waits for the credits to roll in. Nothing too bad, you could think.

Ive just played 3 matches with the guy on the server and I noticed him a lot before. And its always the same, cause people burn through these matches like crazy.
They notice something is wrong and react in different ways. “My team is shit” or just leave or they notice its actually this guy and try to kick him.
IF they try to kick, the first vote doesnt pass as usual. Others dont see or dont understand why, so they vote does nothing and the AFKer can stay. Until the next vote can be cast, the people have already either left or got rolled.
The moment the first person leaves, more people notice the imbalance in the scoreboard and also leave or get upset.

These matches go for wide parts not only 7v8. They go far worse since more people are just in the connecting stages. The map with him on the attackers, we played with 4 attackers and the rest just connecting and disconnecting. This is where absolutely no vote can get through anymore. Its either technical with borked target values or people not knowing why to vote. However, Ive seen literally dozens of players being packed in these 3 matches now and leaving again. All due to this 1 person with his AFK script. No fun involved.

So, please, [list=1]
[] make this a bannable offence.
[
] rework the kickvote values and underlying logic with connected players.

Love the trolls, hate the trolling…

You can’t say you love someone and then proceed to hate everything they stand for, make up your mind.

Thanks for bringing it off topic…

After I wrote this thread, I got back to the server and it took 2 more matches to get him finally voted off.

As annoying as this is, I would also encourage using the report option in-game right now. While there isn’t a specific report for AFK farming I would say it most certainly comes under the “cheating/hacking/exploit” option on the report page.

You can fill out a small text field to detail your report and inform them of the AFK farmer. Support will be able to check the user’s activity and it will be clear to see that they were in fact abusing the system and the correct measures will be taken against them!

I assume you can imagine how many people have reported this guy.

It does exactly nothing in the situation. The trashed games go on and on, until he is finally kicked and is forced to set his system up new. And then he has to be kicked again and again until the CS finally decides to do something.

People can take care of a lot of things by themselves and dont need to run to mommy for absolutely everything. Kick votes have a reason and they have a history in gaming longer than most companies run support teams. Make them work.

The kick and team shuffle votes are definitely still being looked into. The shuffle vote got a recent fix which meant with a 51% positive vote, it would force-shuffle however the vote-kick hasn’t really seen much love.

Hopefully we’ll see a fix from the devs soon, because I agree it’s annoying when you’re in a match and someone’s AFKing or farming with an idle macro. Thankfully, credits earned from idle macros is minimal and they are likely to lose a lot more than they gain - considering they will be earning probably 10 credits per match at most, and then when caught, they will be completely redundant.

The sad thing about pubs though is that some people CAN’T take care of it themselves as witnessed by the vote-kick. All the team needs to do is accept the vote, and it will definitely kick them, they do work as intended, it’s just at times people don’t bother with them.

Perhaps we’ll see if we can get an answer directly from the devs in this week’s dev streams, or something! <3

I managed to successfully kick such a guy through a vote. one important thing i did was to tell everyone why i wanted him kicked, then i started the vote. Immediately the entire team voted yes. Too many times i see people just start a random vote without saying why. Of course people don’t vote yes if they are not told why first and I’m happy people don’t do it. Imagine how many people would be wrongfully kicked if everyone just voted yes every time they saw a random vote.

(Amerika) #9

Report them for exploiting as it’s definitely exploiting and then try to get them vote kicked.

(SnakekillerX) #10

I would imagine none, since from your post it sounds like you didn’t bother to do it as you figured… “hell other people have probably done it already before.” If everyone thinks this way then no one will ever report him.

(FireWorks) #11

I did. Twice.
The players aware in our team did.
The players in the other team did.

I dare to say this person got at least 10 reports there.

As describen above, at some point the snowball is running and people shown in the scoreboard are just in the connecting process, but cannot vote or would know why. During this time you see the chat filled with report comments from both teams - the remnants of leaver/connecter team and the full other team, that can watch the theatre going on.

(FilterDecay) #12

shuffle will be great to stop the stacking of teams in pubs.

(SlixFaz) #13

Ive seen lots of AFK People gone for like an whole game i think dirty bomb should add a auto kick to players who go AFK for too long what u guys think?

(Amerika) #14

Merged the two threads since they are both the same topic.

(Yes) #15

There is a feature that kicks idle players, but it doesn’t work when they die.

(Amerika) #16

And yes, dirty bomb does kick players after a relatively short time of them being afk. However, if they are using a click bot or similar to make them move slightly it won’t work. Which is when you try to callvote kick them and possibly report them if you think they are definitely using a method that keeps them from avoiding the afk timeout.

(1AGRESSOR) #17

“Battlefield Tools” had a great feature that if player does not make any xp 1-2 or whatever minutes after join he gets auto kicked and even if he joins and makes 100xp and goes afk than again if he does not make any xp kills or deaths after ( custom ) time he gets kicked

yeah life is better with dedicated servers

Yeah I don’t get that…all that work to potentially be kicked and or maybe make a hand full of credits…are people really that bloody lazy?

If any kind of trading or steam trading gets announced this is going to be a bigger problem. Right now I imagine its to farm up and sell accounts w/ mercs unlocked.

I had one the other day too…guy with a similar name was playing one account and afking another. I don’t think he was botting the 2nd account…but he was definitely afk farming. We couldn’t vote kick him because his 2nd account had a vote and people just don’t vote or auto vote no unless they really understand why.

Did DB announce anything or hint that anything is coming because I’m seeing it a lot more now too.
