Advice on playing sparks?

(blufflord) #1

So i just brought sparks and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on playing her.
Does she work on all maps like sawbones and phoenix? ( she seemed good on second stage of underground and last part of chapel)
What is the best loadout for her? I think i have the 382.
How often should I use the revivr gun (always have it out like Fletcher and his stickies?) I’m decent with the empire 9, so good.
Any other advice is much appreciated

Here is a tip:
Don’t play her.
I hate her.
I hate killing someone and coming to finish him off just for a Sparks to come around the corner and revive him. I hate being under this constent pressure of finishing off someone before he is revived.
Don’t play medics… atleast not when you are against me.

Get the 383 card, it’s super stacked. Hang in the back of the team, avoid close combat, run away immediately if someone gets the first shot on you from behind, save medpacks for yourself, contribute to the DPS output with your Revivr or Empire-9 but never neglect revives. Also when friendly fire is on just kill-revive your team mates to get them on full HP.

Damn, my loadout is one away.
Thanks for the tips
I never knew about this kill-revive tactic, seems kinda genius actually XD

Yea, you should always use the Revivr if you don’t have a potato aim, if you body shot someone the merc has low HP, just finish him/her off with your Machine Pistol.

Also, Unlike the other medics, don’t stay on the front line, let your teammates take the damage for you, and always be ready to revive them. Try to save the medpacks for yourself, only give to people that really need, one direct hit should be enough, since when people get healed by the meds, they’ll start regenerating health.

Sparks is great, but it’s very difficult to be consistent with her, specially if you have a potato aim (like me).

383 is the best card, I don’t care what guns you like, 383 is the best. No arguing.

Also REVIVR is crazy strong, so learn to headshot. Hang back unless you know you can win a fight.

And if you play sparks, get ready to be sworn at by the enemy team, even if it’s under their breath.

Sparks requires an open map to be decent. You can’t play her on Underground second stage if you’re on the defence, or first stage as attackers. The other medics just are way better in those situations.
If you can set up where you can easily see all of the frontline and revive people without actually having to move around much, you can single handedly carry a game, because the other team will die, while you have an army of zombies at your command.

That loadout also had the empire 9 i think, so that shud be fine, but it does have better augments by the looks of it, so i’ll go and buy that one

So the terminal attacking could be good? or defending for the second stage maybe ( from the balcony you can see a lot?)

Yes. Your positioning should be that of a sniper, but a sniper that wants to see his own team primarily. Remember you can’t revive anyone if you die. So play save.

I have this video of me playing sparks, it was only a test recording, not showing off anything impressive, but maybe you like to see it.

I mainly use REVIVR as a supplement to my attack power. Anywhere I have a second to charge it up before a corner, I do that, then switch to Empire-9 to finish them, then either bat or pistol them once they’re downed. I sometimes snipe enemies with REVIVR to lower their health for my teammates (mostly because I can’t headshot them very well at distance while they’re running). It’s also imperative that you learn to time and jump shot well. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve helped my teams by knowing how to jump off a wall to shoot a friendly to revive them. The hard part about jump shots is not only aiming, but also starting to charge REVIVR up at the right time so that it gets to full charge when you shoot in midair. You should also work on gun accuracy because you won’t be on the front too much, but should help some a little further back or if you find yourself face to face with pretty much any enemy

Also, the maps don’t matter too much when playing Sparks. There are maps where Sparks is more suited to, but she works everywhere.

Her usefulness in certain maps are (in my opinion, in this order):
Chapel, defenders >> Trainyard, defenders > Chapel, attackers > Underground, attackers > Dome, attackers > Dome, defenders > Underground, defenders > Trainyard, attackers > Bridge, attackers > Bridge, defenders >> Terminal, attackers > Terminal defenders

This is based on objective and stopwatch games types, which is mostly where I play Sparks. It’s also based on unranked matches and how people there play. If you have a team, then you can play better in different places than my list above by using strategies to coordinate attacks and defenses together.

I don’t, however, like using her in Execution. I find that her low health is more trouble than her reviving capabilities, especially as defenders.

Just a couple of tips, sit back but stay mobile. If you take damage run and drop medpacks in front of you and then return to the engagement. Make sure to be almost constantly charging your shots when in position. This means if an enemy appears you can instantly shoot them and if a friendly dies you can instantly revive them.
