Advert the free DLC a bit harder?

(Patriotqube) #1

I noticed that ppl are thrown of our servers when the new maps are beeing loaded, so im guessing they havent gotten the DLC, maybe make it clear ingamemenu that they should go an grab it as it is free?

just saw our UK server going from 16 ppl to 4 ppl when Labs was loaded, if thats the way it will stay, il thinking on removing those maps again on atleast 1 of our servers

(yuval152) #2

dosn’t steam auto-update the DLC?

(Patriotqube) #3

nope

as its ment to be bought later and therefor are up to each and everone if they wants it.

(zenstar) #4

Is there “Message of the day” functionality for the servers? If so I’d suggest all server admins adding in something about grabbing the DLC while it’s hot (and free).

(wolfnemesis75) #5

Yeah, we’ve been spreading the word about the DLC through Xbox Live message system. Is there a way to send out messages on Steam? To a list of previous players or something.

Good Idea Mate

I just added that to Motd on our servers

Its still annoying tho what happend to free maps and a redirect to download from so you never had to leave a server while getting new maps, W:ET ftw,

(zenstar) #7

People could message their friends that used to play the game through steam chat.
If you notice a buddy who used to play come online then send them a message about the free DLC.

Yeah, we do this on Xbox live and RIF. You’d be surprised at how many people get excited when they receive a message from someone saying “check this out!” I’ve gotten tons of folks to try out games by doing that. It changes their point of view.

(Patriotqube) #10

well i would love todo that to, but as a new Steam user (only got it because of brink) i dont have that many friends

come to think of that I really dont :frowning:

j/k

(Patriotqube) #11

This is getting ridicolous 3 or 4 times today 1 of our servers has been packed and 90 percent off ppl getting kicked when a new map is loaded.

seeing the DLC is free, why not make it so it autoupdates on Steam?

if the pattern continues tomorrow, i might aswell loose the maps

(FireWorks) #12

Are you sure its only the DLC? After all maps I played today the players left in hords. 4-5guys left and then i had to switch teams for “balance sake”. Too bad most players are yet quite bad and have to learn a lot. Id love to have a little padawan of them

(kozzy) #13

This is ridicolous!
So many people dont even know about the DLC and also tons of people dont know how to get it!

Seriously… just make it an automatic update for everyone on steam! This is getting silly!

(Darksider) #14

The Free weekenders cannot get the DLC unless you bought the game, probably what’s happening with so many people getting kicked…

(kozzy) #15

Alot of people who bought the game dont know about it or how to get em also.
Wish they would have made it automatic for FREE WEEKENDERS and same for people who already bought the game

(Patriotqube) #16

Yeah idd

tbh i like this game, but it seems to me thats its truely working under Murphys Law

What ever has a chance to go wrong WILL go wrong.

To the Devs, its about time you guys step up and fixes this, we are struggling here and need some real help!!!

(Scrupus) #17

How about setting the servers that hosts the new maps to require rank 2 or so during the weekend, and announce info about the DLC in MOTD?

You would miss all the free players of course, but for those who have 2 or more servers that could be a good solution, by restricting on one of them.
