Adjusting voice chat levels

Is there any way to adjust the volume of your (or others’) microphone(s)?

The headset I use is a fairly decent headset (HyperX Cloud 2), but the microphone is far too quiet (and can’t be turned up any further). I know that it sounds fine when turned the receiver turns their volume up (tested via Skype), but I can’t turn it up :frowning:

Thanks,
DMM

There’s an option in the main menu - not in-game - nfi if it works, I just disabled voice altogether.

Thanks, but that’s just a master receive volume. I was looking for a way to turn up MY broadcast volume

Well you did say ‘or others’.

This is one of those “…well, it sounds obvious” - I assume you’ve checked your mic settings? Either the default volume mixer for the mic or if your headset has any optional software, checked in that to see if you can crank up your own input volume? Some people in Dirty Bomb sound really quiet to me even with voice all the way up, but others are crystal clear - I always just assumed it was their OS side settings.

yep, tried that. My headset didn’t come with any additional software, and I can’t adjust the mic volume through Windows. Believe me, I’ve tried :stuck_out_tongue:

You absolutely can. Sound->Recording->Right Click Device->Properties. One of the tabs, I think the second, called volume or something, has a slider. I’ve never ever not seen a microphone have this. At least, never a USB one, I can’t recall the last 3.5mm jack I had but if it didn’t have one there it almost certainly had it in the Realtek drivers.

If it is a jack type headset make sure the audio drivers for your motherboard are up to date, you will get a tray item for it - probably realtek - look in there.

I’ve found what you meant, but I can’t drag the slider http://i.imgur.com/21tOQFf.png

Have you tried looking for the drivers of your headset online? It seems like a headset that would have them.

Had a little dig around on their site, found this:

Some operating systems may not allow you to adjust the microphone volume setting. We recommend that you adjust the microphone volume using the microphone volume buttons on the USB control box.
Not sure on them saying it’s the OS not letting you adjust the volume, but do you have this attached/have you tried adjusting your mic volume with it? Image inside spoiler below.

Otherwise, I think realtek audio manager (and similar programs) can override the windows levels control, so if you have that installed see if you can adjust it in there.

Thanks, that was the first thing I tried :D, I honestly think that I have exhausted increasing the volume through Windows / the headset itself.

Are there any plans to introduce voice chat settings in DB in the future? I understand that it would not be high priority, just maybe in the finished (out-of-beta) version?

Another one that you’ve most likely tried but what about Steam settings? I’m not sure if the game uses Steam for voice but it’s worth a look.

I agree with @Badger_Commander – I use a different headset, (Astro A40) but I’ve noticed that sometimes I have to adjust my steam settings for voice via Steam to fix this problem. So I’d check that if you haven’t already. Good luck!
