Additional Merc Slot?

So i was thinking with the addition of all the new mercs that it might be time to add another slot for a 4th merc. I typically keep a medic and a engie in my deck and the third is usually a heavy of some sort, but with mercs like Guardian and Hunter i think it might be time for an extra. What do you guys think?

The main factor of the number of merc slots isn’t what fraction of the merc population you can have in your squad. It’s how many different roles you can fit into your squad. Currently, you can have a medic, a fire support, and an engineer, for example, and be reasonably set up for any situation. You have to sacrifice versatility to add a sniper or assault, for instance (or anyone more specialized).

The way things are currently, you can’t choose a specialized merc, such as a sniper, without possibly leaving a hole in your team. That being said, you can see your team’s squads in CMM lobby for a brief period while you can still change your mercs, but in general, the point stands.

If you add another slot or two, we might as well have no slots and you can switch to anyone whenever.

I’ve been thinking of it as a reward for those hard grind levels… maybe when you get to level 400 or something.

In ranked it’s nice to have to plan your squad with such a limited composition, but in casual I’d go as far as to argue that there shouldn’t be a merc limit at all. Let people enjoy the game how they want, allowing people to mess around with different mercs wouldn’t ruin the game

That would work if rank was actually done properly and ppl played it. Right now with the overpriced rewards and payouts for playing ranked SEVERELY under paid its not worth leaving casual, and it shows with the lack of ppl playing ranked.

Believe me, I’m the last person who would argue ranked is perfect. I’m saying in theory, squad limitations only really fit in ranked.
Personally I don’t think rewards are the solution. This is a game, not a job. It should be enjoyable, something someone wants to play because they like it, not because they’re being “paid” to do so. That’s why it’s silly to focus on rewards rather than the issues the community frequently brings up about ranked, meanwhile SD keeps trying to force ranked exactly as it is with only minor alterations to UI and rewards. But I won’t go into my full rant here, it’s besides the point.

Well in any game something more challenging yields better rewards that make the time and effort worth it, the reward for ranked here in Dirty Bomb isnt worth the effort. Yes this is minor compared to other issues in ranked but it adds to the problems and is one of the easiest fixes. Perfect example is the event currently going on. Look at how many ppl moved to rank cause the payout is decent now. If they kept this perm maby ranked would start down the right path.

Rewards for “challenges” fits better in single player games, not so much pvp. Of course paying people to play it will lead to more people playing it, but that’s just a workaround. There are people who like challenges, people who like ranked, and would gladly play it without the rewards, in the same way I play casual matches just to have fun, not for cases and credits.

Rewards are a workaround, not a proper solution. Like I said, this is a game, not a job. People should play it because they like playing it, but with most ranked players only in it for rewards, clearly that isn’t the case.
This doesn’t mean I’m against rewards or I don’t think the rewards should be improved, I’m saying it’s better to focus on the actual reason ranked doesn’t have a lot of players, rather than bribe new ones to play. Treat the problem, not the symptom
