[Additional Ability] - Proxy

Proxy Defuse and Buffed Mines.

I would allow Proxy to defuse C4 charges from around 3 - 5 meters to allow her lighter/weaker frame to avoid certain types of AoE/Spam. Just long enough to be under cover on Victorias wall objective or behind a car on the pump controls secondary. Defuse from the centre of the carriage on Trainyard, forcing players to not simply camp the window.

The Buffed Mines are also fairly simple. Allow Proxy to “repair” her mines for 3 seconds to give them 33% more range and damage. This way you can promote a much more defensive play style for lower skilled players without making it a must do thing for attackers. Encouraging the engineers to stay closer to the objectives is always a plus.

I do think she needs some sort of interaction with the mine to make it more lethal. As funny as it is to watch an engineer throw a mine in a suicidal rush just to watch it explode from stray bullets and kill people is a bit undeserved. I wish there was more of an offensive capability too.

I kinda agree but I also think her speed + shotgun kinda make up for it.
If there was some added range to her defuse as well she would become a deep and enjoyable merc.

What happened to the wifi PDA’s?

Upgradeable mines, sure, as long long as the current ones are nerfed, wouldn’t want to see them much more effective overall.

I’d also like the ability to diffuse enemy mines.

If the idea of normal and buffed mines go ahead they’d have to be visually different somehow, glow intensity perhaps. Maybe even their sound.

spidermines!!

starts at 25 sec:

Spider mines - funny to watch but personally I’d be against it in DB (player speed as been slowed down, and many tight spaces)

Heres a better idea: only allow an other engineering merc such as ‘bushwhacker’, to upgrade proxys already planted mines, allow proxy to upgrade turret, etc

please consider more teamplay aspects, alot of your suggestions seem to indicate loner style gameplay, vasilli HBS, etc

You are wrong about the lone play abilities…

The vasseli idea is to make his Heartbeat sensor weak and give him the incentive to use the overcharge that both helps himself and his team. It was simply adding some skill into something that was very basic.

However, I would like to point out one flaw with what you just suggested…
You need to imagine the game being played mostly in a 5vs5 matchmade environment, In that case it would be very unlikely to see both a Proxy and a Bushwhacker on the same team. You say make it about teamplay but really if you have double engineer most of the time its not the best teamplay idea… Thats why I do not suggest abilities that merge/synergise with other mercs that share the same roles.

Proxy is the last nerc that needs additional abilities. I’d rather invest more time into pheonix, thunder, feltcher and maybe a few more first. Proxy has enough decent stuff already.

I’m in two minds tbh.

Re Distance defuse: I remember the days of ET when I would plant underwater mines in strange areas because you could just about manage it by bobbing up and down in the water, where if you tried to plant them normally, you would drown. With that in mind I can imagine some exploiting of the feature that would be unfair on attacking teams, or unfair on defending teams if it was extended to plants as well. Theoretically it should since there is as much danger to planting as defusing.

Saying that, the best option would normally be a health buff to make her a bit more resilient, but then she’s already abused as an attacking rambo type because of the difficulty of hitting her whilst carrying an op shotgun, so that rules that out :frowning:

Increasing mine strength I could go with, but I still want to see them hidden once planted, and maybe Vassilli’s sensor could reveal them if thrown right
