adding weapons

(SuperC) #1

i’ve seen a few maps that have weapons like flamers,mp-40’s and panzer lying around, my question, how do they get there and how do i add them? :???:

(garv284) #2

are you sure those aren’t the weapons that were left behind by the people that have been killed in gameplay?

([rD]MrPink) #3

Thats probably what they are, but technically speaking you could import the model if the weapon into the editor. No one would be able to pick it up though. Theres probably weapons and ammo somewhere in the menu when you right click as well, and those you could pick up. They were there and worked in RTCW MP mode, so they would probably work in ET MP mode, but no guarantees.

It looks like they left the weapons out of the et_entities.def file. For weapons that exist in RTCW, you could try copying the .def entries over. For new weapons, you would probably have figure out the classnames by looking in the game .exe and .dlls.

it would be nici if its possible like an ammo rack whre you can get mp40 or thompson flametrower and stuff

(SuperC) #6

in map carnage by marko, there a thompson you can pick, and it wasnt anybody gun, cause i was alone on map

Placing weapons as entities in maps seems to work fine, for RTCW weapons the names are the same, e.g. weapon_thompson, for ET weapons you’ll have to guess. You can either add weapon entity descriptions to your entities.def, or place a stand-in entity like an info_null and then change the classname in the entities dialogue box.

However, since the weapons do not seem to respawn, this can only be used as a gimmick rather than being at all useful.
