Is there an easy way of adding pics to some walls in current ET maps?? I really need to find some info on how to do this. :banghead: I appreciate any help as I am new to editing.
thanx

do you mean texturing in general or do you want a special picture/texture to show somewhere?
I’m sure there are a ton of able individuals who would absolutely love to help you out, Shooter, but you really have got to be more specific. Take some screenshots of what you’ve got so far to let us know where you stand now, and try and re-word (very, very carefully) what it is, exactly, you mean by “specific pics added to the walls in spawn areas.”
for a start create a directory called textures in your main directory if it doesn’t exist, then inside create another one with some name you like and copy your picture into that, you can use .tga and .jpg, the picture/texture itself should be in a power of 2 - so 64x64 or 256x256 and so on… now you should be able to see your texture in radiant (flush and reload shaders if needed, and show all) then you might want to write a shader for it but i won’t explain that as there’s a shitload of info on shaders at the forums, tutorials and the documentation
Then replace “some name you like” with the name of your map. People please… Lets keep things striaght here.

Easy answer, NO u cant add images to already compiled maps (Current Maps as u said it)
There is no spray-tagging in the QuakeIII engine, this is not Half-Life!
Thats what I meant. Thanx Drakir. And that sux. I didn’t want to create a new map, just add a few pics to certain walls in current maps like Goldrush, Oasis etc.
But for the sake of argument, if I was to replace a .tga in one of the texture folders with a pic made to the same specs, just renamed, would that possibly work?? And if so would just I be able to see it or anyone on server see it?
Yes, you can create a SEPERATE pk3 file with edited textures and I believe they will show up, IF the client has downloaded them AND the server is running it.
In fact, there is a Quake3, which comes with 5 different texture sets, that allows the player to customize the color of the map to their liking. Server has to run at least one of them, but then each player can pick and choose (much fewer pure servers in Quake)
