Adding more basic Objective modes

I know it may be hard to do with the map layouts, but do you think SD should add more basic objective modes like CTF or at least a game mode where both sides have to attack and defend (dual sided search and destroy maybe).

I love the objective based game modes, but it is sometimes frustrating because of the defenders advantage and the annoying choke points.

Yeah same. Brink is basically about a war, soon they might have some sort of team deathmatch where it’s a map specific so you can’t just play TDM on any map for xp and the score is like 100 kills or higher so it seems like real war.

Just to say Ctf is pointless because capturing the enemy flag is only gonna make your country seem like dumb asses because your stealing a $2 low quality cloth flag replica.

I wouldn’t spit on a “Race Mode” maybe, when both teams have to reach a destination through a map with various paths and “secondary obj” blockng the was, like doors to HE blast or hack, bridges to repair, big fat dinosaur to heal so it moves way, whatever.

Race type maps would be great- so many opportunities to exploit parkour to its fullest in that kind of map. Even if it’s just challenge maps- the ‘parkour this’ was something that people really enjoyed.

For CTF, all Splash Damage has to do is take a briefcase and put it on both sides. The two primary objectives could be to defend your briefcase and steal their briefcase.

A scoreboard would be needed however.

I don’t know how hard that would be to implement.

This is a cool idea.

I think the closest we would get would be a base race like map.

I completely agree as long as the continuity stays intact such as said before TDM or CTF or taking this from CoD a search and destroy mode

Just because it’s called CTF doesn’t mean it has to be an actual flag, it could be intel or something.

They could add a territory defense areas especially on a map like Container City or Reactor would be great for this. You still have to complete the objectives. But there could be territory areas to capture on the other side of the map. Like 3, same with a map like terminal, so that forces would be divided. But the match would have to be about total points deciding the winner. CC: you could have a territory at the gate. At the command post. At the other command post on the opposite side of the map. A territory outside of Security Spawn to the right. A territory near the hack side door. There would have to be a reason for the territory locations strategically. For example, capture a territory and the defense/offense has some negative or there is bonus points or points awarded towards a total. Or make it so that if its 8v8 the spawns are divided so that 2 teammates spawn randomly throughout the map. So, Resistance spawns 2 members near the back spawn near the Bio Sample, 2 Security at the opposite side where there’s a little room. 2 Resistance spawn in the Resistance spawn near the bridge and 2 Security spawn at the Health Post. 2 Security spawn where Security Spawns. Etc. And the match keeps rotating where you spawn so that you are in a different area when you die. So there are territories thrown in AND objectives to complete. Not sure if it would work. Just brainstorming here. Alter the rules slightly. Like, once you plant anything it cannot be removed. The HE counts down but takes longer to explode like 1 minute.

Here’s an illustration of what I mean:

But then in a race map, should the bodytype be forced to light ? Does it make any sense to have heavies in a race ? Or maybe because even i na race, it would still be team vs team, so heavies could be used to hold CP’s (that would count as advanced spawning points through the race).

One could also imagine races between players themselves (one map with all players as security, and another with all players as Resistance). This would be some kind of training competitive camp to shape up the warriors to send to the front. In this mode, maybe no weapons except melee pushes, and forced light bodytypes with no secondary objectives : just crazy parkour races between 8 players pushing and sliding their opponents ? Maybe with dynamic obstacles in the map like flames or steam… The only drawback is that maps should be carefully designed with the alternate routes and so on.

I like to daydream eyes wide open haha

Ya, I just used CTF as an example of the game type. Really it could be anything that requires the team to perform both actions and they could pretty much use the objectives already in the game

For example, each side has to hack or blow open a safe and steal the package and run it back to their base. It would keep it team oriented and make use of the various classes.
