Adding Lobbies into Brink (X360)

(Vetin) #1

This isn’t a request but rather a question. “Can Lobbies be added into the game, now that its released”

I can’t seem to recall a game that has had game lobbies added after its release. I will admit I haven’t looked to see if one has.

I hope the system could be added in within an update or perhaps even in a DLC package.

to be honest i don’t think they will add lobbies if they do i’ll be beyond surprised - i can’t recall any game adding a lobby either

I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to, they can add maps and other new content via download. I don’t see why they could at least add ad optional lobby system, or a way to find games that are already populated rather than this shot in the dark system they have now

I can’t see why they wouldn’t be able to, and I have a feeling it will be in the June patch.

I’m not a programmer or anything, but I suspect adding lobbies would be much more difficult than adding new maps or even game modes. I’m certain that it’s more than just writing some coding or whatever and then sticking it in there somewhere. Both major and many many minor tweaks have to be made.

But yes lobbies would be great. If anything, just the ability to create a fireteam BEFORE joining a game.

Yes creating a fire team before starting would be awesome

the basic version is. adding maps is easy the game contains a list of maps and pics one at random (or appropriate one if you select a mission) then it simply accesses that maps file and loads the map. to add maps you just add the map files and edit the map list.

to add a lobby would require rewriting of the menu system to actually have a lobby and then several very large rewrites to alter the network structure. i don’t believe it will be done, not saying it cant but it would be alot of work. if SD do add lobbies then it really shows there commitment not just to the game but to us.

If they don’t put lobbies into this game in the first patch, it won’t be nearly as successful on consoles. Just sayin.

making the lobby isn’t hard its integrating it that’s hard. I’m at uni studying to be a games designer and i can say with absolute fact that adding maps is much much easier then implementing a lobby. or almost any networking related change for that matter

Hah, you got it before my ninja edit, GG.

Hopefully they do it, it would make this game so much easier for console players. As it is, it’s pretty rough trying to play with friends. Way to much inviting/leaving and such, and it’s just not ideal at all. Although if they were able to make it so that you can add people to your fireteam through the main menu or your friends list and bring them with you to wherever you go, that might be easier and work almost as well.

Yeah, there is a bunch of people who didn’t get it because there was no lobby, from what other forums were saying its the one thing that detracted them from getting brink.

I really dont mind not having a lobby system with this game. My friends and I are still able to play together and the fireteam option is nice. Its not like SD forgot to put in a lobby for MP.

This is an honest question and I am not flaming or saying lobbies are useless. I just don’ have a clue about the issue.

I own the game on PC so I don’t understand why there is so many consoles players that want a lobby system.

Could somebody enlighten me?
