Add a Smoke grenade into the game?

With the abilities some mercs have, which on a lot of maps favor the defensive side massively such as the air strike and the orbital laser. I think a smoke grenade could add something new and more strategic to the game, especially for the attacking side. Say on Chapel or Terminal, i think they could be pretty important to an attacking strategy. It could be added to an engineer or something. Obviously it would have a 1min, or even a 2 min downtime like on all of the other abilities and only last for something like 7.5 to 10 seconds? The only issue i think it might cause is a drop in some peoples FPS.

What do you guys think?

not only does RedEye have a smoke, but also infrared goggles to see right thru it with.

Terribly fan to make everyone go blind and knife them in the darkness.

Well that’s really disappointing. I was looking forward to a smoke merc but if that merc also has IRNV goggles, then this game is going to get really frustrating. That’s how smokes work in pub matches in BF4 and it’s basically like having a portable wallhack you can throw down whenever you want to rather than a way to support your team and execute takes.

Here’s hoping they remove the IRNV ability and give him something else like maybe flashbangs or something.

it really is fine, trust me. Smoke can be easily removed with any explosives. Plus you can always move away from it, and force red eye to get out of cover. Plus vassili’s heartbeat sensor will spot him in the smoke. Plus a random hit thru smoke will reveal his position for a moment (the red hp bar).

well redeye is a DMR user so i dont see it being an issue like BF4 where i could sit in a corner all day with a FLIR MG4 Bipod tossing out smokes and smashing the faces of anyone who crossed my sights… the issue would be in 8v8pubs where there could be 2 or more redeyes doing smoke trains… that would be annoying

I hope they make his RedEye a bit more useful. It was pretty situtational, the situation being solely to see through his own smoke grenade or other RedEye’s smoke.

using the goggles would also spot enemies for the team similarly to vassili, so it definitely was not situational.

Is he going to be another sniper or actually get a load out for assault where the smoke are needed?

as far as i remember he had a felix loadout for sniping. His default battle rifle is a more-powerful less accurate DREISS AR

And Red Eye can have goggles activated so he can see through the smoke while others can’t.
