Accuracy on shotguns

(n-x) #1

Does someone know how accuracy is meassured on shotguns? If 2 guys give one shot and Guy a shots from Point Blank for full damage and Guy b shots from some distance and thus only half the Pellets Hit the target. Will both have 100% accuracy

you have star shaped spread pattern, its bigger star when you jump

(GatoCommodore) #3

And you get 5 pellets in the center if you ADS when bunny hopping

Erm thx for the Information, but that was not what I meant. What I mean is, what accuracy values would those 2 guys have in their profiles if those 2 shots were the First ones fired with that shotguns.

Just gotta do a bit of science to find out.

Get some friends, preferable ones who don’t mind facetanking shogun blasts. The nerds in the Discord might be able to help you out.

Take a screenshot of your stats for one shotgun. Hop in a game, fire a single shot to test, and compare.

I seem to recall a post on the subreddit after a CMM test where some guy (reportedly hacking) had 109% accuracy or something, mostly playing Fletcher. This gives some evidence to the assumption that shotgun stats track enemies hit, not pellets hit. That isn’t confirmation, but it is a reasonable explanation.

Assuming the above is correct, which it isn’t necessarily, both Guy A and Guy B would have 100% accuracy for the single shot fired.

This is the direction my question was going. I played against a Cheater recently who used an aimbot and had the shotgun spread disabled. Turning the shotgun more or less into a sniper rifle. He had 3000% accuracy after the game.

(GatoCommodore) #7

it think its imposible to turn off shot pattern, it think he has that aimbot and only get 1 pellet hits you (because the . on the crosshair is where the center pellet is going to hit.

(n-x) #8

I don’t know what exactly happened but he killed my fragger with 2 shots from a shotgun, from half across the map.

(GatoCommodore) #9

many people come to DB lately, Cheater and 1337 H4Xx0R also coming back to DB because its fun.

Sounds like your average Hollunds user in any given situation.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible? Mods that can eliminate spread…so I don’t see why a mod wouldn’t be able to eliminate pellet spread.

Someone got VAC banned for that.

Some older hacks allowed a cheater to inject their own damage values. I don’t see them as often now as a lot of those values were clamped down on by SD but I am pretty sure it can still happen. Most likely he was hitting you with a single pellet that was doing 170 or more damage while using an aimbot.

(n-x) #14

@Amerika thx for the Response, but How did the 3000% happen?

(bontsa) #15

This is actually pretty interesting point as I could see some potential in some sort of in-game autokick / ban / flag system being put in place. Nobody should ever in any reality achieve anything over 100% legitly (even if they slam full 5 pellet hit on someone and don’t fire a single shot the rest of the game?) so it could be good indicator to get rid of at least the ragebotters instantaneously.

If you have a setup where the server trusts anything sent by the client and it’s not further checked by the server to be realistic you can end up with people being able to easily cheat the system. If you’re able to read in the memory of your client, find the values for things like damage, health, location etc. you can then use a program that will modify those values in real time and then send them to the server. Since you sent that data over a trust network packet the server simply trusts that data. So you have to build in support for the server to be smart enough to check the values and that they are acceptable…but this is a bit harder than it sounds and it severely hinders performance with some games as there can be a lot of overhead.

Have you ever seen virtually any game with a Global Leaderboard and noticed that the top scores are completely unrealistic? Same thing. People either modify their game data or data contained in the network packet to a server. In the case of the 3000% shotgun that was most likely another value sent and the server simply accepted and then displayed. At least that is most likely how it happened.
