Account suspended

(Violator) #1

Today I have apparently been suspended due to ‘3rd party program usage’!? (I have PMed badman) and no explanation when I try and log in to the game. I have never used anything of the sort (as my general performance will show!) - a server issue or revenge by the hackers I reported? I can still log into the nexon forums ok (but not playdirty).

EDIT could be due to speccing that ‘systemcheats.net’ player? If its banning people speccing that definately needs looking at.

Can you post a screenshot of the message?

Will look into this and see what we can do.

Out of interest were you running any kind of packet shaping/bandwidth limiting programs? Stuff like Netlimiter or Wireshark. They tend to show up on the AC even though most folk don’t use them maliciously.

n1 Anti

Nothing, I even quit the launcher once the game has loaded proper. I don’t have any AV running in the b/g either. I was playing fine on the Saturday night and then when I tried Sunday afternoon I got this and have been getting it since :(.

EDIT: here is the current task list:

Just had a retest (and also removed ‘hipatchservice’ which is used by HiRez for something or other + firefox) and its still banning :(.

(RR2DO2) #6

To make Anti’s request a bit more specific; do you have any of those tools installed? (They don’t necessarily need to be running.)

(AsKo_) #7

well not sure what your screenshot with open tasks should show.
if you used any not allowed 3rd party programs you wouldnt show a list with that active anyways.

(Violator) #8

I do have Wireshark (0.99.6a) installed (but not running). Never used NetLimiter.

Shows which tasks are currently running when I launch the game so that SD can see if any are reporting a false positive. If you are that sceptical I could make a video showing all this happening with the task manager running in the background the whole time… I’ve been in DB since early alpha, an SD supporter for 10 years+, clearly aren’t using any hacks (anyone who specs me would see that pretty quick!) + I actually reported that ‘systemcheats.net’ numpty to boot which is why this was all the more surprising.

Isnt it a bit too restrictive when installed but not running tools like wireshark lead to a ban?

(Mustang) #11

It’s too restrictive to ban even if they are running, imo!

It should just give a warning saying “please close this program to start your game”.

(Violator) #12

Wireshark is just a network monitoring tool (which I installed 4 years ago and haven’t used for over 2, I think I only installed it when I was having connection problems iirc).

I got banned with no warning or any email even, it was literally working the night before and then stopped working the next day - my PC config hadn’t changed at all in the meantime.

(AsKo_) #13

nobody confirmed this is about wireshark…

(Runeforce) #14

I also have Wireshark installed, but have not been banned, so I don’t think that’s the reason.

Xigncode was previously doing this. At one point I couldn’t launch the game on my home PC due to a Xigncode error, which turned out to be because I had Netlimiter running in the background (I wasn’t using it at all and had had it on my machine for a couple of years, but because the process was active that was enough). Once I turned Netlimiter off the game ran again.

Ultimately we should be giving clear messages to support bans and giving warnings, or only temp bans, for less serious infractions. I think this is just a case of somebody being a touch too enthusiastic to get rid of the recent cheaters we’ve seen and not properly executing that process, so we’ll try to get this sorted out.

(.N.E.R.D.) #16

Try renaming your account, that worked for me. I wasn’t suspended for 3rd party though, in my case I guess “JimBob Pissprince” was a nick not wanted in the game

lolllllllllll

(Violator) #18

heh

Tried that though and still can’t get past this brick wall… Guess I have to be ‘unbanned’. Also uninstalled WireShark.

Appreciated, but I won’t be looking for any more cheaters :frowning:

Hope I don’t get into ‘trouble’ for using a program called Pinnacle Game Profiler (maps keyboard keys to a game pad) as It hooks to games’ executables. I can’t play on the keyboard as it hurts my hand/wrist.

Lol, I played with you at some point. I remember laughing as I read your IGN.
