Account Reset

I know you’ve probably seen about a billion of these posts before, but hear me out.

Around December of 2016, my brother gave me his Steam account as he is going away to college now and he thought it would be a great parting gift. I happily accepted it because he has 186 games in his library and they all seem pretty cool.

My friend was telling me about this game called Dirty Bomb, so I went onto the Steam Store to download it. When I launched the game, I was already Level 2, and I only had 708 credits so I figured that my brother must have played this game at some point but dropped it soon after playing.

Obviously I have never played this game before (personally), so I was not greeted with a tutorial or anything like that, and apparently you receive a certain amount of starter credits which I would have preferred to spend on my own. I have no idea what my brother actually spent his credits on either, which just makes things worse.

I was wondering if I would be able to get my (brother’s) account reset so that I can experience this game as a fresh experience instead of one that my brother has seemingly just picked up, screwed around with and then thrown to the side for me to play. Would it be too much to ask of the devs? My account was only Level 2 so it’s not like I’m a “smurf” or anything.

tl;dr My brother gave me his Steam account and played a small amount of this game and I was wondering if I would be able to get the account reset so that I can experience this game for myself.

Thanks.

The short bitter answer is unfortunately, no.

I’ve been asking for a reset as well since Dec 2015 as I was advertising this game to various potential players and unfortunately, any reset among the player population will tamper the data that has been collected since then. The best way really for a reset is a fresh alt-account, albeit, the use of such accounts is frowned upon by some members of the community, however legitimate the reasons may be.

That is unfortunate to hear. I’ll try and learn the ropes through the use of YouTube videos, and I will attempt to figure out what my brother purchased with his credits, as he says that he cannot remember.

Thanks for your reply anyway, K1X455.
