About weapon skin creation in general

Yesterday we’ve seen this:

This pic inspired me to try a DB skin design. I would love to make some patterns and I have experience working with CSGO and PAYDAY2 skins

Now here are the questions

  1. Where do I start?
  2. Is there a way to get some kind of reference pack?
  3. What should I base my patterns on?
  4. Do I need to extract DB’s files and replace them in order to apply patterns?
  5. Do I get banned by EAC for modifying game files?

i think they dont allow modifying game models

but it was said by raz back then, i dont know about SD stance about it.

They should really release a sdk at some point or something like that, so people can work on their own skins (and maps).
