About Fletcher sticky bombs

Sometimes when i throw a sticky bomb and try to detonate it, it simply doesn’t want to explode. Is this a bug or what is happening?

Probably because there is a cloaked Phantom nearby. I haven’t noticed any bugs with detonation in specific on fletcher.

Phantom has an ability that allows him to EMP certain deployables like mines, health stations, and sticky bombs. When they’re EMP’d, you can’t detonate them.
If your depoyable icon turns blue, that means it has been EMP’d.

Continuing off of what @STARRYSOCK said, if the bombs are disabled by an emp they can still be detonated by bullet.

Lock on and quick draw allow you to detonate your stickies sooner. If you recently changed loadouts, it may be a matter of you not being used to the new delays. If it’s not that, latency related, a Phantom EMP, or the stickies being shot by the enemy before you’ve detonated, then I’ve got nothin’.

I didn’t know Phantom can do that, was this in the game from the start? Since i am a returning player and don’t recall it.
So does this Phantom EMP ability only work if it lands on him or also close to him on the ground, because i only noticed it when it was on the ground.

Since we are already talking about Fletcher, why did they nerf the sticky bombs so much that sometimes they don’t even kill a merc (and no it wasn’t Rhino,Fregger or Thunder). Even i got a sticky bomb on my face once and didn’t die…

Phantom was given an EMP as part of a rework that removed the effect from thunder’s conc grenade. Phantom EMPs everything around him in a similar style to the heartbeat sensor, even through walls.

And fletcher was nerfed because he was, and still is, extremely viable in combat compared to other engineers and even some assault mercs. He was nerfed to give other engineers a chance in on the meta.
Not to mention his sticky bombs outpreformed his actual weapons most of the time by allowing for very easy kills. They still kinda do really.

Happens to me too and it feels like my ping is the culprit…or whatever packet lost…the game simply does not register my input to detonate. And i use the BL32 with lock on

Phantom was given an EMP as part of a rework that removed the effect from thunder’s conc grenade. Phantom EMPs everything around him in a similar style to the heartbeat sensor, even through walls.

Just a quick clarification, the EMP aura is only active while Phantom is cloaked, and the EMP on your deployable itself lasts for 2-4 seconds after the deployable is no longer inside the aura.

This also works to the Phantom’s detriment as the EMP aura is larger than he can reach with his melee after sprinting for 1 sec allowing those with fast reactions to realize whats happening. For example, if your or your ally’s heal station isn’t working when it hasn’t been destroyed or just deployed (blue sparks on the deployable), you’ll know there is an enemy Phantom about to carve your ass.

2 main probable reason
the biggest solar flare in the decade is causing distruption in the internet

or

the undersea cable that got snapped

It’s a well know bug for long time…you’ll see the animation of Fletcher throwing his sticky but he throws nothing thus when you hit detonate, it won’t. They mentioned it a while a go in a weekly video update. Apparently they even fixed it in one of the of updates but this bug is still apparent which is why i don’t play Fletcher. I’ve seen this bug happen with Thunder too though very less often.
