About balance

So after playing more than 600hrs I just wanna give my two cents about the balance
alot of new player are complaining

First of , I noticed that the balance is much better on -10 server compared to normal ones.
Everyone has a basic idea about the core mechanics of mercs, roles and maps.
-20 server are even better , while I didnt play much on them due to being mostly empty, the matches
I had were a blast.

What I think the biggest issue about 7vs7 server is that the weakest link in a team screws everything up.

Lvl mostly dont matter but there is still a giant gap between a lvl 5-9 player vs a lvl 20-30, you get the idea.
As long as cmm is not implemented , its important imo that everyone above lvl 10 plays mainly on -10 server

Even if -10 servers are full , I rather wait a few minutes to get into one. Its just infuriating playing with that low lvl Aura missing her defib three times , the vassili who camps and does practically nothing or that skyhammer not giving ammo.

Its not healthy when beginners play on a normal server and get stomped by high lvl players, or by that twink on a -5 server.

DB is an incredible fun and rewarding shooter once you get into it , but the initial experience is just too unforgiving for alot of people.

This is nice and all but at times I’ve waited for 20-30 minutes to get into a server, or I join an empty one and anyone who joins leaves and it never gets going. So as much as I’d love to play on only min servers, which are a joke anyway - public is always bad no matter where you play, I can’t unless I want to waste half my time waiting.

[left]lvl<10 players should not be allowed to play on normal servers
we need tutorial servers for them
(SD could raise the lvl cap from 5 to 10 and restrict <10’s from other servers)

these servers should have tips displayed on the sides of the hud, telling them how to play properly (like those tutorials single player games have)

its weird but whenever i compare normal to min lvl servers, then there are more high lvl players in the ones without lvl restrictions(they love their stomps)

min lvl 10 servers should give more credits (maybe 2x) and min lvl 20 too (4x)
ranked should give 6-8x creds and an increased chance to get cases alongside a small chance to get weapon kits(or some of the other small bonus stuff from arsenal crates)

@Nero I agree with you, but I don’t think there should be a credit boost, I think loot chances should be higher.
So… Min level 10 servers have a bonus in crate drop chance, and min level 20 have that and a maybe 1/5 chance of getting a weapon kit.

its funny, actually balanced games are very rare on minlvl20; in the sense that one team typically has 2-3 players on VOIP who tryhardedly stomp the pubstars from the other team. Despite that, its still the best pub game experience around, where everyone knows the basics, it finally brought the ET feel back for me.

Agreed with @Szakalot. Even on min10 and min20 servers the games are still usually just as one sided in my experience. I completely disregard level now any way. I see so many new accounts these days who are level 6 or level 7 and manage to get 30k scores with 75 or more kills. They’re clearly smurfs, and for some reason they seem to be more common these days, so you just don’t really know who is who.

Min 20s are more balanced usually than normal servers, and that is because everyone knows what they are doing, and the weakest link that holds a team down usually isn’t actually that weak and can fend for themselves well. Due to this, games feel more organised and therefore more enjoyable to play, and give the illusion of balance as most of the time your team will know how to combat most situations and adapt to them, so people tend to not get stomped as hard. Though the large gap between lvl 20-30 and 40+ is still quite substantial, and these servers tend to attract much higher than lvl 20 players, which are brilliant at this game and stomp anyone and everything. But there is usually someone that can combat them to sort of level the playing field. I do agree with the concept of making max lvl10 servers, as even though they have a decent amount of hours in the gams, I feel people will need to learn a bit more before they journey into the somewhat wide world of pub play.

What I also enjoy more about playing with high level players is, they check what kind of merc the team needs. If there is only one or even no medic one or two will switch. On servers without level restriction you have either players who just started and can more or less only play one merc or are the beloved 4th I camp on the far end of the map vassili.

Maybe I’m just extremely unlucky as of late then. Can’t wait for CMM as it is.
