Abilities and Help for Hackers...er Operative

(nephandys) #21

It’s not the points that’s the problem it is the fact that you can only assign three toggle-able abilities to any character. D-pad down, left, and right. Outside of that any other abilities you pick after those are full will not be usable. If someone else knows different feel free to correct me. I have tried this on my medic and you can’t have Metabolism, Speed Boost, Laz Grenade, and Adrenaline, you can only have 3 of the 4.

Also, sorry for my mix up of SOP and CI earlier. I’m at work and I also never use SOP on any of my characters, largely due to CI.

Oh i see. You’re on console. I guess it’s the same for PC but theoretically we could easily have more than 3 based on available buttons.

(nephandys) #23

In any 8v8 we play there’s always at least one of us playing Op. The real problem arises in 5v5, especially in comp because other classes are more useful when your slots are so limited (unless there’s a hacking objective). However, it’s then a question of how do they tune the game? To 5v5 or 8v8?

I always play with a team of friends (and on console) so I may not have the same problems, experiences, or make the same observations you do.

(nephandys) #24

Can you have more than 3 now on your Medic? I would love to know because that would be a huge difference between console and PC version. I don’t think you can though.

(Bittermetal) #25

I forget. Let me look right now

“Operatives need some sort of buff. There is a thread that is guessing a silent running buff is coming. That could be interesting. How about a melee buff? Operative could lend that for +melee dmg. Or… Poison buff to coat knife in poison for continued and accumulative knife damage after initial swipe.”

1)link to thread
2) i think ops should enhance the radar of teamates, would be usefull, can be made permenant like th other buffs and woudl be pretty cool. would be called “technical Tinkering”

(wolfnemesis75) #27

Operative can buff teammates so their guns are silenced. There you go.

(nephandys) #28

Out of all the buffs suggested I would still choose my pips for my nades over buffing someone. Just my opinion though.

(Bittermetal) #29

looks like no. 3+ objective wheel

(mortis) #30

I was being facetious, but it still would amuse me.

Another good idea!! SD you listening to your community kicking and scratching to help improve on something great?

(Bittermetal) #32

Sorry I have zero respect for Lulz. But back when I was 19, I was chasing girls not 0s and 1s just to piss people off for the uh…LULz. So I guess I can’t relate.

(nephandys) #33

:frowning: That sucks especially since you have the keys available. However, this will eventually and hopefully lead to some class diversity. Like when the DLC hits you could have a medic with Laz, adren, metab and one with laz, speed boost, healing station, or whatever combinations of those abilities.

(mortis) #34

Actually I was thinking in terms of it mocking LulzSec…aka the operative with a ‘hacker’ PDA. I don’t like them, but since they hacked Bethesda, I wouldn’t mind (dis)honoring them in game.

(Bittermetal) #35

Ahhhh. Sign me up. I’m in. Especially if its a crossed out Lulz logo with Hack Failed written. Or a hatchet in the head of the LuLz logo, then it could read “hack” successful.

(Bittermetal) #36

Iezza! It’s your thread http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29001

lol!

Sense of Perspective…Anyone else not getting SoP while Firewalling and Upgrading command posts? Seems SoP should work for those too.
I’m not sure who SD would implement that with the class-selection wheel menu being opened while upgrading/firewalling. Maybe a separate interaction button? Or make the class-selection menu more transparent and overlay it over the SoP view?
While I’m on it… Why is the camera resolution so horrible when viewing through remote controlled turretd. That’s kinda funny.
This seems to be a holdover from the ET:QW drone view. They want it to be “digitized” so it looks like you are looking through a security camera from the 1970’s for some reason. Considering today’s tech it would seem that the camera view should be crystal clear especially since Brink takes place in 2045.
Oh one more… when a Soldier is down…but not dead, why can’t he set off his satchel charge if he can still see it in the game world?
I agree, I think downed Soldier should be able to set off satchel charge and also Downed Operative should be able to control a turret but only if they have taken the Downed Fire Ability.

EDIT:

I’m the exact opposite. Not a fan of grenades.

Give me the 360 pan-around view but show me my characters the SoP is supposed to work instead of showing me the front of the command post. Objective wheel can remain up. I don’t mind

(Jimmy James) #39

That should work on the PC considering the w,a,s,d keys move the SoP camera while the mouse is used to interact with the wheel-menus. I’d still prefer to control the SoP camera with the mouse however.

Sooooo would I. Believe me. It still takes me a second to get my bearings once they throw me is SoP.
