A word on Dirty Bomb and Competitive play

Hey everyone,

Last week we announced some big changes coming to [Dirty Bomb] (https://www.dirtybomb.com/news/the-quick-join-update/) and since then we’ve been listening to your feedback and looking at your responses. We want to address some of the issues and concerns you’ve raised since the announcement, specifically Ranked and competitive play.

We solidly believe that Dirty Bomb is best played as a competitive FPS, and we are fully committed to that vision. Ranked in its current state was not fit for purpose as long queue times and poor balance made for a bad experience, but that doesn’t mean the end of the competitive scene for Dirty Bomb. In fact, it means much the opposite! (But we’ll get to that in a second)

Last week we accidentally announced 5v5 FF ON Stopwatch servers would be in the server browser. Shortly afterwards we let you all know that his was not the case, but due to your response, we’ve reviewed our servers and have made these happen! We hope you enjoy them, but please remember to check if a Medic is nearby before using Martyrdom…

For the more competitive side of things you’ll be very pleased to hear that we’re currently working with [FACEIT] (https://www.faceit.com/en) to create a competitive environment Dirty Bomb thrives in. For those who don’t know, FACEIT is an online competitive system committed to giving everyone the power to create and participate in tournaments and ladders.

Putting the power in your hands gives you so much more freedom to compete when you want, find other players to build a team with and also earn rewards.

We understand you may wonder why we didn’t announce this in our video last week. Well, the ink on the contracts has barely dried and we wanted to announce our partnership once more of the feature set has been laid out, but as many of you were worried about our competitive future, we figured it couldn’t hurt to spill the beans early.

This is a very exciting time for us here in the studio as we work towards our first major third party integration. Information is limited at the moment, but if you have any questions, drop them below and we’ll do our best to answer the ones we can.

Thanks!
The Dirty Bomb Team
