A Thought on GFX Cards In Light Of Recent Brink Patches

I was wondering if anyone has information on how extensive the graphic changes will be with the recent and future Brink patches. I read how intensive the changes were, so much so that people have gone from 25 fps to 125.

Many other things were mentioned as far as the graphic changes so I was wondering if anyone has considered that perhaps older cards which didn’t pass the minimum requirements before, are now acceptable. I had purchased Brink for someone and found that his graphic card was not up to par so we had to get a later model. But now, with all the gfx changes, I wonder if the minimum gfx requirements might allow it.

Not likely. My understanding of these performance enhancements is that they fix specific bugs for specific graphics cards. These bugs were causing problems for people who already met the minimum requirements, and the problems were due to a driver or game issue, not a lack of hardware capabilities. These were not general performance improvements that impact everyone significantly.

The developers would not have targeted this type of performance fix at unsupported cards, so the chance of these updates having any effect on the game’s minimum requirements is practically nil.
