A thought about proxy's mines

(FalC_16) #1

Yes yet another thread.

This time I would like to point out something else. Many of you probably noticed that it is quite popular thing to do that a Proxy throws a mine in front of your face and shoots it. Yes it’s very annoying and humiliating.

Now you are able to counter it by shooting the mine and blow her up as she throws it.

Plot twist:
Why are we not able to do the same if there is another “enemy” merc around “enemy” proxy’s mine. What happens today, the mine explodes and does no damage to the enemy player, because the mine was not his.

I believe the same should apply to other explosives like sticky bombs etc.

Thoughts?

Nope, it’s already fine as is

If you actually played comp with FF on, mines can become a serious liability to Proxy’s teammates because they work exactly as you described. You’re just not awarded the kill, but the damage is already done to her team in a 5v5 setting

This should not happen in a pub 7v7/8v8 for obvious reasons. In case I need to clarify, she’d be the only merc in the game who’s ability could be used against her team

My point is…if I consciously shoot any enemy explosive set for me to trip on… I would like to inflict damage not just to the owner but also other enemy players…I am sure this works in competitive…but overall it would make sense…

But thx for the thoughts @Ritobasu

Yes, I know what your point is

And no, it wouldn’t make sense from a balancing standpoint, it would be incredibly stupid to punish Proxy as the only merc in the game who’s ability can actively hurt her team

Pubs either have FriendlyFire off or on. Arguable which route to take. You suggestion would basically be having 1 ability from entire game to have FF on even in enviroment with FF off. Not really sensible idea in my honest opinion.

(Currently, with the level of plays in there now and since we don’t have a Tutorial, it is and better stay off)

I am not convinced if I would call it a friendly fire, because it’s you who would trigger the explosion to go off.

It’s the friendly proxy’s bomb going off, hence the friendly fire. Either way there is absolutely no possible chance this is going to happen for pubs. Way too easy to grief.

You realise that this would be the most frustrating way for players to grief in pubs? Douchebag proxy drops a mine on a health station where her entire team is, an enemy sees the obvious and shoots it and the entire team dies.

If you’ve played Battlefield 3 or 4, you’ll know what I mean - some griefers on OpMetro/OpLocker like to drop C4 all around their team and when one enemy grenade hits just one of those C4 packages, it sets off a chain reaction and blows up ALL of the C4, killing about 20 players in the process.

Thx guys for your thoughts. I used to play other games such as BF4 or 3 or Arma and yes these mechanics were in place, never really experienced any frustration out of it. That is why I watned to discuss it here.

Operation metroll was a meatgrind and yes it was broken.

Maybe for 5v5 in competitive when FF is on it makes sense.
