I have been spending too much time making textures and not enough time compiling new maps, obviously :). In the past I created a single, external lightmap for my terrain by adding…

q3map_lightmapmergable
q3map_lightmapsize x x
q3map_lightmapgamma x

This created the extra folder with the external lightmap and also created the q3map_mapname.shader to enable the use of the lightmap. This no longer works with q3map2.5.6. I had to roll back to the last 2.3.8 version to compile the terrain properly. I understand that lightstyles now creates external lightmaps and shader for the lightmaps. Is there a simple change that I need to make to my terrain shader or must I apply the new lightstyles to my terrain map to enable the single lightmap again? Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide :slight_smile:

Haven’t tested large external lightmaps with Quake 3 in a while. Should probably do that…

I narrowed this down today. Everything is fine (except that the entity sun is much darker) at 2.5/2 . The q3map_mapname shader is not created by the q3map_lightmapsize param from 2.5.3 on…

Just fixed it. Fought compiler errors, Samba problems, linker cruft, Windows Update, Direct X SDK crap, hail, etc. It doesn’t work with lightStyles yet, though.

It’ll be in 2.5.7, along with all the other misc fixes like q3map_surfaceModel working again. And DDS texture support (like anyone really needs it yet)…
