a request to SD...

(channa) #1

I as many others have been following this game from the word go and i am very happy with the coverage and the amount of interest sd has showed the community but theres one thing use have missed out and that is coverage for the pc gamers who have always been here.

What do i mean?

well from when you announced brink you will have found that the majority of followers where pc gamers and as the word got out the console gamers came after. Now this is not a rant about pc vs console but is a request for us to see this game played on pc or even some info about the pc such as controls etc, as the console has had all the footage which i totally understand why and the console is the money at the end of the day. The reason i would like to see some footage is becuase the gameplay will feel different on pc to console, my guess is pc will have faster gameplay etc etc but it would just be a nice present for us pc gamers as we have followed sd from the start.

So please go back to your roots and give us pc gamers something to smile about with some footage of brink and how it should be played… on the pc

please +1 if you agree we need some cheeky footage

thanks

iirc a lot of the footage has been played on PC’s with 360 controllers (hence the 360 cues) - I could be wrong here though.

Secondly I think they feel more comfortable with PC gamers and they know their fan base is already on the PC so they’re focusing on their weaker market - consoles.

That said, yes, I’ve love to see some “PC only” gameplay, HD videos with the graphics and options cranked up fully using keyboard and mice. It’d be nice to know how much better it plays and looks on PC’s over consoles, but something tells me the experience may be quite similar anyway.

yes i believe that your correct about it being played on pc with 360 controllers but its the key board and the accuracy of the mouse that i believe will slightly change the gameplay speed, smart etc

SD recently said they’d only be looking hard at the PC controls when the console versions were off being certified. I’ll be a little disappointed if things are noticeably lacking because of this but will wait until the pudding is out of the oven before crying abandonment. We can also be hopeful that the PC will see rapid patches if they’re necessary.

But yes. +1 for some intense M+KB, experienced player, footage.

I have a feeling that we will see something like that soon just from some hints I’ve picked up along the way. I’m of course being hopeful.

damn i hope you’re right…

I’m really glad you added the part after the comma…

If graphics were that important, games such as ET, UT, Quake, etc. would have never been successful. Granted at the TIME, they were fine. Ultimately, they are just fun to play. It always goes back to gameplay. But honestly, this whole graphics make the game better argument is a bunch of crap, again IMO. Super high contrast, 48xAA, trilaoisspcooiueter filtering turned up to 6xUltra, 4,098,325 x 333,333,111 screen resolution, ultra-super-fine shadows (for characters, buildings, trees, plants and gravel), 62.3431 mile draw distance, and ambient light comb-filtering through “glass” objects reacts differently than when the same light goes through fog which is different than when it goes through smoke is really not that essential to me…to me I said. Halo CE is a great example of this. To me they looked the same and played the same regardless of platform. Another example would be Bioshock. It was great and looked great on the 360, but I picked it up on Steam for $5 or so just to keep in my library. While I admit the game looks better on my PC, it plays the same and the story sure as hell didn’t change because I was playing on a different platform. Still, Brink is the first game I plan on getting for both the 360 and PC at launch and I’ve never done that before. That’s just because I like playing on both platforms. Mostly, I stick to twitch shooters on the PC and all others on console (say, Arkham Asylum for instance).

+1

There are many reasons why PC Kb/M gameplay must be shown but the main one - it’s hard to promote the game that don’t have any PC footage, if u try to convince PC players that Brink is a good game in best scenario u get answer like “We need demo” or “will see after release”, but most of the time answers is like “Go to hell with your Console-port FPS game”. It’s easy to sit on official forum with other Brink fans and speak about all great stuff that will be in Brink, but reality is, the first thought of all PC gamers (no SD fans) is – it’s a new title and like most new titles these days, it’s totally console oriented.

I think such situation was caused by COD series on PC, the developers promised a lot, and in the end PC gamers was felt cheated, and become skeptical regarding all cross-platform titles.

I won’t settle for less

only 62.3431 draw distance. you’re setting the bar a little too low there…

clearly you need a 73.1456 mile draw distance… perfect for when you’re getting in someone’s face with a flamethrower…

Now, I have no doubt it`s the answers you get from your typical AG scum crowd. Thank god immature russian mob(warsong much?) is not everything there is to PC gaming.

Try visiting respectable sites like RPS for once.

I just wonder why all crazy ppl on this forum are Russians, Brbr with his nonsense, and this guy with his hatred. Damn Shame.

(Slade05) #13

Nah, you are the only one. Bas is more coherent in his madness and I never stated I dont like an entiriety of russian sites or russian players, nor do I feel ashamed for being one myself, its your solipsism talking.

iXBT sure has its share of nut cases but its nowhere near ghetto level both AG and PG easily pull off.

(Seyu) #14

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, I am sure we’ll get something in the coming weeks.

(tokamak) #15

You mean before they release it?

Anyway, Bethesda’s approach to this gives the word ‘stealth marketing’ a whole new meaning.

(Seyu) #16

lol. Then perhaps a video of the play-testing going on or a match amongst the devs along with Richard Ham’s commentary would be nice, eh?

(Kinjal) #17

IMHO: I’m sorry, but Richard Ham is a terrible commentator, “that guy is now Jolly best friend”.

(Auzner) #18

LOL. So I’m not the only one who noticed that guy’s rambling.
