Method:
(Xbox Version)
Encumbered weapons with heavy attachments (e.g. Weapon Shield).
Timed the seconds it took to equip and fire each weapon.
Times are based on three tests. <-- Please note
(Brink Wikia says the EZ-Nade is 0.900, so as a non-attachment starting point I also tested the EZ-Nade… And, I don’t know, maybe I’m just slow)
Results:
[ul]
[li]EZ-Nade - 1.5 - - [1.2]
[/li]
[li]Chinzor - 1.5 - - [1.2]
[/li]
[li]Barnett - 2.3 - - [1.2]
[/li]
[li]Maximus - 2.4 - - [0.9]
[/li]
[li]Euston - 2.8 - - [0.8]
[/li]
[li]Gerund - 2.8 - - [0.8]
[/li]
[li]FRKN-3K - 2.8 - - [0.8]
[/li]
[li]Rokstedi - 3.0 - - [0.8]
[/li]
[li]Rhett - 3.3 - - [0.8]
[/li][/ul]
Side Test
All Assault Rifles were fitted with Weapon Shields, so as an extra test I swapped the Weapon Shield for the Bayonet on the Euston:
Results:
[ul]
[li]Euston Bayonet - 1.8 - - [1.65]
[/li][/ul]
Summery:
So a full second faster with the Bayonet, even though the equip speed bar looks exactly the same as when the Weapon Shield is attached.
Well at this point, if you haven’t fallen asleep, you might be wondering what those extra times are with smaller numbers - - [ ]… Well that’s the time it takes to equip the same weapon loadout and fire it, but with the twist of using Melee to break the equip animation. And given that Assault Rifles have fast (non-Bayonet) attacks, it knocks off a sizeable chunk of time… Especially with the Rhett.
While playing around with this I did notice though that buffing yourself locks you into the animation… And I also noticed it’s a nasty habit to get into, as I found my self using Melee on weapons I didn’t need to, which actually added time to my equip and fire speed.
Conclusion:
As many already knew, the stat bar on weapons does not show the true Minimum/Maximum and as a result can be misleading… And most importantly this test definitely proves that the Weapon Shield must be made out of freaking lead!!! I mean that little thing?!? Seriously?..
Sure, 3.3 seconds is fine… If you’re equipping a Bazooka!!!
