a question about the first vs second edition cards.

(enigmaplatypus) #1

so i was reading about the new second edition loadout cards and i had a few questions.

1.) so if the cards and loadouts being redesigned will they be getting rid of the loadouts that are good? like i know that the ones we have won’t go anywhere; but i was wondering if in this new overhaul they are going to scrap even the cards that they got right (and people like).

2.) they mentioned that they would release the current cards to buy in the store, what rank/color are those cards going to be available. (bronze, gold, silver, cobalt?)

3.) are these new designs going to actually look good on the mercs? Have you noticed how sometimes some of the skins look good when you see them on mercs but they make your gun look awful, and the gun is what you look at most (this may just be me/my opinion).

The second edition is referring the the augments and nothing more, I think. I’m almost certain every merc will retain the same 3 primary guns and the skins will remain the same. So in theory it will just be a different variant of what already exists. Whether or not new augments come out I have no idea, but we can only hope so, because someone made a thread not long ago with some new augment ideas and most of them were excellent.

As long as Redeye gets a deployable Dingo to eat all of the babies I am happy.

I hope to see Lock On on Proxy. @stayfreshshoe @RazielWarmonic

(doxjq) #5

Me too. I brought this up a few weeks back. The lock on perk even says “mines” in it but she doesn’t have a single card with lock on. Some one tried to tell me that fletchers stickies are referred to as mines, but it sure doesn’t say mines in his description :stuck_out_tongue:

Exedore said on stream that you will still be able to buy the old loadouts from the store, they just won’t drop from cases anymore. I wonder what is going to happen to tradeups and tradeins though, 1/9 is already a bad enough chance.

(exaltedRuler) #7

Lets give proxy lock on not pineaple juggler

(FerfyDerf) #8

What about being able to choose which card series you’re trading up for?

@stayfreshshoe @RazielWarmonic

(PurpleHippo) #9

It clearly isnt RNG enough.

(BananaSlug) #10

what if you could choose what loadout edition you want while tradeing up/in

(Eox) #11

SMG-9 being my favorite SMG, if they give to Bushwhacker decent SMG-9 loadouts I’ll be very happy.

I’d be happier with SMG-9 loadouts for Fletcher though. Or Hochfir. I like Hochfir too.

(b8rpwn1337) #12

LAZORS HOCHFIR SMG PRO MLG. I am sorry for the caps, just needs to be said.

(Captain_Forward) #13

Perhaps we will see both Fragger and Thunder with their original LMGs? That’d be very lovely.

(Docta) #14

I feel like it is just going to be New skins but no loadout changes. So like maybe we will have 2 lead skins, 2 Iron skins, 4 silvers and so on. Like some New bronze that is also green but not with the forest camo but with stripes and stuff instead

(FalC_16) #15

those who invested a lot of money already are not happy about 2nd generation of loadouts I am sure.

Seeing where the game is now, I don’t think this is a good idea to bring it now. It’s kind of too soon. We need more other content, maps especially. I would be so happy to pay for more maps. Jeez.

Basically what I’ve understood so far about the 2nd gen loadouts is:

They are supposed to just release a second set of loadouts with more balanced augments across the loadouts. The 2nd gen cards should be kinda like current Stoker/Phoenix/Aimee cards as in you don’t really have a best or worst loadout card for them. The values are distributed rather evenly. Sure some might value Drilled higher than some other perk, but in general it comes up to player preference.
But the goal of 2nd gen loadouts is not to have cards like 383 Sparks/C94 Phantom, where the value between cards is extremely uneven, making only very few if not even only one card far superior to others.

2nd generation loadouts aren’t supposed to outshine the first edition, it’s made just to bring better balance. Those who have paid and grinded for their great cards, such as 383 will get to keep them as they are(with probably only Cool being reworked out of the current loadout cards as it has no effect in Execution and hopefully they will give up on Pineapple juggler as well).
Simply the second edition cards should have 9 rather equally valuable cards compared to how we currently have 1-4 loadouts out of 9 that actually have any augments with decent values. My only worry is that the 2nd gen loadouts will be made to match the values of the best cards from the first edition, such as 383, leaving all the rest of the first edition cards still useless. RIP whoever got a bad card in special edition, as it might most likely remain trash forever :’(

(OmaGretel) #17

What would be the point of 2nd edition loadouts if the old cards were still much better?
The devs probably don’t want to spend their time working 9 (?) new loadouts per merc when that 383 would still be the only one used for Sparks.

(Drac0rion) #18

I know, but it’s sad to see that the two CW cards I got will remain useless forever, at best only a collector would trade those cards for anything… assuming trading is on its way “soon™”

(blisteringOwlNest) #19

I’m pretty sure the only way to get the old editions would be through the store, so in the future you can only get bronze ones.

I say this as other wise trading in will be potentially 1/18, and getting what you want out of an elite case would be nearly impossible. Unless they have separate trading, like someone else said.

(Drac0rion) #20

I’d like to think they will add an option to trade-up/trade-in for the chosen edition of loadouts.
Would be a shame not being able to trade up for my current favorites from the first edition.
