How was the flashes that appear on the ground and buildings in Radar done?
A question about lightning in Radar?
Yeah thats sound stuff (thx though)… i’m wondering about the flashes on the ground and buildings.
Those are for the flashes too, check the radar.bsp in wordpad (alertentity lightning01). The flashes are made with dlights (dynamic lights).
In the radar script:
alertentity lightning01
In the .bsp:
{
"targetname" "lightning01"
"angles" "-45 0 0"
"origin" "-562 -2430 1577"
"stylestring" "zawkd"
"_color" "1.0 1.0 1.0"
"spawnflags" "6"
"classname" "dlight"
}
Ah ok…
I was trying out using dlights before i posted… not working at all for some reason. Thanks…let me try this…maybe it’ll shed some light…heh
Radar has a big stack of Dlights which are randomly selected via the script. They also linked via “misc_vis_dummy” entities to other parts of the map. The map is split into 3 zones, 1 the main Axis base, 2 the main road towards the bridge and 3 the side entrance valley. All the zones are linked together so that the dlight is displayed everywhere around the map.
Most of the hardwork is really done in the script, randomly selecting a dlight and triggering the correct sound effect to go with it. The script is run through an “info_notnull” entity next to the dlight stack of entities.
