A question about 2nd gen cards

(frostyvampire) #1

When 2nd gen cards are released, do they replace 1st gen ones?
What I mean is: Will it be impossible to get 1st gen cards after the 2nd gen are released? And the 1st gen cards will become rare and nobody will ever be able to get them again?
Or do the 1st gen cards stay and 2nd gen are just another 3 cards for each merc?

I’m thinking about trading up for a cobalt Sparks card, I have enough golds only for one tradeup. Should I do it now (after we get 30% discount of course) or wait for the 2nd gen cards to be released?

Second generation cards will “replace” the current first generation ones.
However, you will still be able to buy the bronze variant in the store.
We assume that higher rarities won’t be available for them anymore.
Most likely there will be a complete new set of 9 cards.
Perhaps some of the good first generation cards will be taken over to the second generation, we just don’t know which cards it’ll be.
That means if you want to get some last minute bling for them, do now!

About your trade-up…to be honest the chance you’ll get 383 is low.
Maybe it will be taken over to the second generation.
I wouldn’t try it personally.

They will only be available in Bronze in store for (presumably) 17500 credits. You won;t be able to create 1st edition cards in higher rarities. Trading up in will accept 1st/2nd edition cards but the result will always be from the 2nd edition.

I would definitely wait. It may turn out that your new shiny cobalt is weak compared to 2nd edition cards.

Ok thanks for the info. I guess I’m lucky then because I have a cobalt MO11.
I guess I will wait for the 2nd gen cards to be released then and pray 383 stays.
P.S. Does it mean that if it doesn’t stay I will never have 383 above bronze ever? I kinda want to have it in cobalt

Yup. If 383 disappears in the second generation of loadout cards you will never be able to get it in a higher rarity than bronze - until trading comes out.

Wellp. I will recheck all the possibilities of what I might get if I do the Sparks tradeup to see how many good cards there are, I need to see what are the chances of me getting rekt with a bad card. Thanks

Edit: There are 3 cards that have Get-Up which already makes them good. There’s also another card which looks nice so it’s ~50/50 chance of getting something good, what do you think? Risk or save?

Exedore said on Reddit that the cards that are used the most would stay in the 2nd edition and he also said “But at a high level, we looked at the cards that don’t really get used, and created replacements for them for each Merc. Sparks for example was a massive challenge, because we’ve tried to get her 8 other cards up to the level of the 383.”

8 other cards means 383 is staying, the rest is going.

That answered my question about trading up. If I get it right it means 383 will stay and all cards will become good. Thanks

Yeah, I guess now you can safely assume that 383 will stay.

Really? This sucks.

The whole idea of introducing 2nd gen instead of just fixing current loadouts sucks :frowning:

Edit:
Just remember that nothing is set in stone until it actually is released and is tested by us. Even if it is confirmed multiple times, by multiple people. Even when using words that have a very strict meaning, like oh I don’t know, nothing comes to mind, maybe “linear”? So we have to just have to wait and see.

Edit2:
I just realized that the only reason this 1st/2nd gen thing sucks is that cosmetics are connected with gameplay. So yeah, shit monetization system strikes again. I really don’t mind if someone wants to use a hypothetical Pineapple Juggler-Cool-Try Hard loadout. 2nd gen at least allows him to use it in Bronze. It would be replaced if SD just changed existing cards. If skins were separate there we could have all 18 simultaneously and that would be the best of both worlds.

(Sorotia) #12

I don’t get why they’re doing this…would it be so bad if they allowed us to choose if we wanted 1st gen or 2nd gen?

(BazBling) #13

They are doing it in the hopes that ‘ALL’ Cards can become viable choices rather than some cards being way preferred above others for use because they simply have better augments.
Balancing the Cards is probably the best description for this.

(KUST__LunarTM) #14

There are things I would seriously want changed, like that one Rhino perk that reduces fliching when ADSing. Who the hell ADS’s as Rhino? Might as well just have only 2 perks.

I’m not entirely sure what is going to happen to all the cards though. I know Gen 1 cards will still be able to be bought in store but only in bronze rarity and that equipment cases will no longer have Gen 1 cards but rather have Gen 2 cards. I hear rumors about card trading eventually being a thing. But the thing I can’t seem to get is whether or not we are still going to retain our Gen 1 cards in our inventories when the Gen 2 cards are released. I would be extremely upset to find that My 383 Companion Agent cards I have in Urban silver, Bamboo gold, and Rogue en Vogue SE are no longer there or have been changed to something I seriously don’t want to use.

(Occult) #15

your inventory is safe, nothing is going to change

Actually Focus affects you from hip fire too. It’s a top tier perk because of that, but they still haven’t reworded the perk from when it just affected ADS.

No it doesn’t. and Focus will only reduce the aimpunch WHILE ADSing, not the recoil itself.

and like @KUST said, almost no one ADS with shotguns.

(SaulWolfden) #18

I mean honestly, the only thing that should be replaced on 1st gen cards is the Cool perk, just because it’s being retired, no reason for it to still exist on any card old or new. I can’t think of anyone who actually is excited to have that perk on their card or wanted specifically to get that perk on the card.

Actually it does, devs have confirmed this multiple times. It’s been stated numerous times across reddit and in Discord’s community channel. Literally everyone knows this.

Then why not put that description in game for the people like me who don’t use Reddit or Discord and just play the game?
