A noobs wishes/rant.

Not going to go into great detail, however these are a few niggles I have.
First off I think the classes weapon sets are a little off. Maybe the “Spec ops” RE sniper should have the airstrike, C4 should go to the support guy? I find that the basic movement is fine. It’s just that I cant crouch jump up onto ledges like in old school shooters ATM.

I think Iron sight should not affect movement speed, or be removed and replaced with a zoom & tighten of the cross hair. As of right now the single most important class is the engineer and by far the most interesting to play.
The weapons even with FOV adjustment take up too much screen space for my liking.

On a side note.
(never going to happen).

I would like to see some class specific game mechanics/synergy, I will ream off a short list of what I would like to see.

Spec op don’t have snipers, the have silenced SMG’s, C4, booby traps & flashbangs. They can put away there weapon & with conjunction of old school movement, grapple/mantle up to ledges not accessible any other class other then snipers and Spec Ops.

The assault becomes the vanguard, and has a riot shield that can be deployed the riot shield has a screen that can be knocked out by a engineer and a turret can be placed inside that space. He has smoke.

The support gets demo weapons lie RPG’s to counter act the above combination.
He also has IR goggles.

Add a dedicated sniper class with appropriate ranged abilities RE air strike, and special bullets that can ricochet has mantle/grab. Proxy sensors Anti glare visor auto spotter scope.

I would like to see also, in general a active reload system if that is not trademarked.

I would like to see what iron sighting without sacrificing movement speed would play like. I understand that the general idea is that you’re sacrificing movement for accuracy… but iron sighting also sort of obstructs your view, too. I don’t get much use out of it personally, but after last night I feel like maybe I need to start iron sighting more (which I really do not want to do, unless we can have separate sensitivity toggles for iron sight vs hip shooting).

Interesting thoughts otherwise! And I feel ya on the jump/crouch. It’s annoying me too :stuck_out_tongue:

Reminds me how I miss smoke grenades for covops (instead or in addition to current radar beacons). Also satchel charges for him from ET won’t be bad. Satchels could be used as traps or to destroy secondary objectives. Even the pump disabling in the enemy spawn on the 1st obj of London Bridge could be doable with those satchels then. Disguising and hacking objectives would be great too, including hackable backdoors.

(Runeforce) #4

Yep, that class is great and a lot of fun. Surely miss it!

(Mustang) #5

Crouch jump and smoke nades are still on my wish list, here’s hoping.

(Violator) #6

Some good points there. The recon / covops is a much reduced class currently from ET / QW - no hacking, disguises or smoke to use as of yet. Yes to satchels - my favourite weapon from ET :). Hacking turrets would be nice to turn them against their creators :).

I really hoping cvops gets fleshed out a bit more and won’t just be the sniper class. As it stands now I see it becoming the noob class like in BF, just hang back and throw a spotting nade every now and then to “do your part”. (Not saying that the class is bad in BF, but 8 out of 10 times it’s played by a noob and adds nothing to the team)

Anything is possible (some things are more possible than others of course!) so just because we have a certain range of characters and abilities available now doesn’t mean we won’t have more in the future. I love the way covie is done in W:ET

(Apples) #10

Couldnt say it better, covie is Sooo more than only a “sniper”…

I like this guy! I’m adopting him.

I do think ironsights need to be changed. Right now they don’t offer the extra accuracy to make up for lower mobility. However, increasing the mobility is not the answer.

(shirosae) #12

Are you kidding? Ironsights turn pretty much all the full-auto primaries into railguns. Use them at a distance to pick off people who haven’t spotted you yet.

Ok how about this, no speed reduction when iron sighting, however the recoil is exponentially higher than from the hip fire, forcing short burst fire at all ranges when in ADS. Also your FOV gets reduced by half as you are using one eye to sight in this mode & in addition the screen edges are darkened to give a tunneled effect. In short ADS gives accuracy and movement, however you loose situational awareness and become useless in CQC, meh what do I know.

(Ashog) #14

Well, after yesterdays whole evening playing as a soldier, I must testify that hipfire with both guns was more rewarding than IS. I was getting much more headshots without IS, so in the end I stopped using IS even at high range. I don’t think it is well optimised yet…

(woll3) #15

IMO, as a Soldier in the Defense IS are very useful, altough it feels a bit weird because the FOV decreases while having the same cm/360°, a different zoom sense would probably make it more valuable.

(Ashog) #16

Well, it is useful if you are static, but try to strafe and the hipfire gets IMO much better than IS.

(woll3) #17

Isnt that the Point about it, sacrificing speed for accuracy. The only Situation i strafe while ADS is when i get out of cover to shoot something, and i dont hink its meant to be used while doing cqc.

(Ashog) #18

Why not? Can hardly remember when I used ADS while camping behind cover. This game is fast, so mostly you are a sitting duck if you don’t move, and then you are dead in 2 seconds. This gameplay is closer to RTCW or Brink rather than W:ET or ETQW.
