A Nice Thing To Do

(RyePanda) #1

If you are repairing a side objective, and a non-engineer runs up and tries to repair it, they probably have a mission to complete side objectives. So, to be nice, if you’re an engineer, leave them the last bit so they get credit. If you aren’t an engineer, just leave it to them.

Maybe I’m doing the same thing, but playing Engineer like a smart person.

(XavienX) #3

That is nice, but honestly, they should’ve just went engineer themselves.

(RyePanda) #4

It could be that they didn’t realize they’d still be alive as a non-engineer when the secondary became available.

(fraggyb) #5

Or just tell them to use the elevators in Underground as that counts as a side objective for some reason. Makes it very easy to do the mission where you have to complete six side objectives!

(RyePanda) #6

But I only think it counts if you are first to use the elevator.

(fraggyb) #7

I did it 6 times in one match a few days ago

Now if only there was a way I could do the Comp missions without spending 10 minutes playing spin the Arty while waiting for a match to show up.
You spin me right round…

Putting an engineer in your loadout and swapping to it when it’s time to do game mode xp/a side objective is a really good way to make sure you get the quest done. Non-engineers shouldn’t do objectives unless they have to (e.g. main obj to do and no engineers around).

I wouldn’t do it every time necessarily, but we were pretty in control of the game anyway.

It’s always funny seeing 3 proxies sprint towards the same side objective and then all try to repair it at once. Annoying when they all get killed by the same nade, but funny never the less.

Uhm nope.
If you want to farm Game XP take an engineer (or firesupport on EV defense). There is a reason why free rotation always contains an engineer nowadays. There is no excuse to not run engineer if you want to focus on objectives.
Likewise there is no reason to profoundly slow down team progression just so one person can slowfarm XP.

(insightfulHelicopter) #12

Having missions based on individual performance on a team based game was not the greatest idea.

(bontsa) #13

Seeing another Proxy rush towards the same secondary objective, I really feel like SD should change these missions so that any and all game mode exp gained through interacting with secondaries counts, not just completely and fully completing them like now. Guard, defuse progression, repair progression altogether. This would still keep them as a reminder for especially new players that “hey, theres this cool generator that helps you as Attacker to complete the main objective, try it out!”, and be more delightful to execute rather than agonizingly crawl through maps only to see people snitching said secondaries right in front of your face, or see Bridge and Terminal come right after each other to ruin your day and hopes of completing said mission without skimming through 6 matches.

Inb4 some comes and states yet another old, so many times heard “ur nut oblig8ted to do diz mizzion u blewb”, I rather not have anyone nor myself having to decline these missions right off the bat every single time when getting them. It just doesn’t work as fluently as other missions for now.

They might not be an engineer when the side objective becomes available. It’s happened to me where, as Sparks on Attackers on Chapel, I lived for a really long time so the EV made it before I could change to an engineer, then the bridge side objective became available while I still wasn’t an engineer.

(Fleshpound) #15

I am doing the same but when i get 3 engineers and they all say that they are doing secondary objectives.

(AlBundy) #16

Are you the good guy STEVE?

(bontsa) #17

Did someone mention STEVE?!
