A little help ... please

(Trish) #1

HI!, I am new here…

Jax_Gator sent me this way thought someone could help me with my latest map/problem.

The darkness/shadow? (see screeny below) at the bottom where wall meets the platform… I only get it on that level of the map and that area. Nothing intersects, everything down below meets up perfectly. Any idea’s… It kinda looks as if shadow from below is creeping up there, but everything is tight up against the wall. Any idea’s would be appreciated.

Do the wall brushes extend below the floor there?

How thick are the floor brushes?

Are the hidden sides of the floor brushes textured with caulk or a translucent shader such as clip?

In order for Q3Map2 to figure out which luxels (lightmap pixels) are hidden or embedded inside brushes, the brushes they’re embedded in must consist solely of opaque (non surfaceparm trans) shaders or textures.

You are using -meta when BSPing the map, right?

im betting its a -patchshadows thing… are there any patches in that room?

(ydnar) #4

Are you even using Q3Map2?

(Trish) #5

ok, recompiled using q3map2 took care of the shadow/darkness but it
really messed up the sky… (yes I dont know what I am doing:) )

Sky is paralaxing, <-- not sure if thats the right word for it…
It kinda melts when viewed from certain angles… ugh.

Post your sky shader and maybe a screenshot of the problem. That usually helps.
