A little dissapointed with the dreiss and grandeur

(titan) #1

Anyone else having a lot of trouble using the grandeur? Used to love this gun in closed beta but the new version feels quite weak. Played around with it for a few hours now and can’t make it work well with any particular style of shooting even with very conscious trigger discipline, ADS, 2 round bursts etc.
Not saying it should change to how it was in closed beta which was also a bit silly in that you could spam it at close range and use it like a shotgun to blow people up but at least it was a contender back then.
The recoil seems too high to achieve really solid ADS aim and the hipfire is crazyyy after 2 shots. Sits in a very awkward spot where it’s not greatly effective at any range. You feel you should play aggressive with it but realize you can’t 1v1 with any consistency. Then you try to play it like a sniper but there’s better weapons to do this.

The dreiss has similar issues but atleast you can hipfire it now. The problem is though as a hipfire weapon it isn’t good enough. I read that the dps is actually higher than somthing like the m4 but in reality you can’t hit as consistently so the ttk can seem like an eternity sometimes. The dreiss was a bit of a niche pick before in that you could ADS and with good aim just obliterate someone with the higher rate of fire. Now i can’t really see any use for it at all.

I guess what I’m saying is the guns need more defined roles where they can be effective.

The pdp is awesome now at least so that’s cool

It can be good, sometimes.

Nice shooting, maybe i need to try ADS more, although can be a chore with low sensitivity
Looking forward to seeing it in a competitive match, not convinced it will be able to keep up with other guns but we’ll see I guess

It probably wont, because you absolutely have to ads with it in order to be effective.

Even redeye’s smokes are kinda lackluster.

His gun is also not the same as it was in closed beta; yet again, Splash Damage changed things without telling us.

(shibbyuk) #6

I kinda feel the same… It can do serious damage if you’re hitting your headshots but, as you say, after a couple of rounds in a gunfight it seems to suddenly become next to useless. A lot of this is down to me, though; my first ever game with red-eye I got twice as many frags as everyone else. The second game, I couldn’t seem to hit a damn thing.

I am at the point where I believe Splash Damage is incapable of making nice feeling weapons.

I am not blaming Smooth for this to be clear.
The animations, way spread is handled and recoil are all horrendously implemented.
Sure the design is boring when it comes to making unique feeling weapons but overall the mechanics of actually shooting just suck hard.

Redeyes weapon is by far the worst feeling weapon in the game and what makes this such a shame is that it is potentially really strong.
However if a gun feels this bad in a players hands its doomed.

I am so done…

Yup the gun feels terrible to use. The recoil animation feels so artificial and I can’t even hear the hitmark sounds on bodyshots most of the time.

go away then, you’ve been whining and feet-stomping for a while now. Save everyone the frustration ; )

Stat-wise, Dreiss does DPS comparable to smgs but with rapid loss of accuracy. Burst rifles like Br16 have very high DPS, accuracy but low magazine. Dreiss has no upsides other than high range, but at that point it loses the fight against sniper rifles.

Yes, exactly. Also I feel the damage fall off is too severe. Having to land 4 shots on a Proxy at long range is both difficult and unrewarding. And when she gets up close you’re in for a hard fight unless you get that HS.

I can’t help but agree with this.

It’s like the only competitive weapons are full auto weapons and sniper rifles. Literally. Almost all frag movies use them. When was the last time you’ve seen a shotgun frag movie ?

Individual SMGs and assault rifles don’t really feel different. I don’t notice differences between Hochfir, SMG-9, Crotzni, KEK-10, Blishlok, M4A1. K-121 does feel a bit different, and machine pistols do feel weaker.

People say Timik, Crotzni are those which trade accuracy for power, and you need controlled bursts. But if you watch good players playing they still shoot them in full auto, and these weapons are generally avoided. So overall a design failure.

Pistols are last resort weapons and revolvers suck pretty hard.

Dreiss, Stark, Shotguns are suboptimal weapons. Anything that’s not an auto weapon or sniper rifle feels like an afterthought. BR-16 is the only good one.

Shotguns are on par with SMGs up close, but utter garbage far away. What’s the advantage ?

Here are some fresh Grandeur videos by Amerika, a level 50 player:

He performs very well overall, but I wouldn’t say spectacular. At least half of enemy team is below level 10. He barely gets any headshots - in hipfire and ironsights. And in my opinion Grandeur is not good enough in hipfire to outperform a machine pistol Vasili has.

I quite like the stark but, is it me or has it had an accuracy nerf recently?
