Dirty bomb should have a legit training map, like overwatch. So you can practice aim/tracking moving characters, so you can improve your aim. Also make the training dummies have different amounts of health like the mercs. Honestly, im new to pc gaming and my aim is bad, and im so sick of being thrashed by players with better aim costantly.
A legit Training map.
Well, just practice on real people in populated servers with fast respawn, no?
After some time you’ll get used to aiming plus it’d be fun actually playing the game, no?
But yea, I wish there was such thing, but if you really want one - you’ll end up with some standalone app for training mouse skills, maybe even just an interactive website
find a free single player game like Half Life Lost Coast and use it to practice aiming
It’s not necessarily just aiming in general, it would be great to get a feel for characters before going cluelessly into a match. Sure you can play Aura and Skyhammar in a vaguely realistic environment, but not everyone else.
While I don’t really like OW, there are a lot of features DB would be wise to take note of, a firing range being one of them.
itd be nice, but its a waste of time, compared to all the other things we need

this is what he asked for:
" So you can practice aim/tracking moving characters, so you can improve your aim"
I answered his needs, not yours
If it replaced loading times, then yeah, why not?
Unless it’d cause performance problems.

it would have to be a separate offline mode

Technically it already exists as an offline mode accessed via the console commands, however you need to use the console to change mercs and their guns from the default set of 3 (Sawbonez, Proxy and Fragger). I agree that it would be nice to have a more streamlined version of this implemented, one that doesn’t require as much use of the console commands, though it technically does exist.
no, technically offline mode exists, training map would include AI/bots like an expanded tutorial map

“it” (Being an AI player using offline mode) existing, no. A mode where you can move and look at stuff that doesn’t fire or work the same as the current game?! Sure… whatever. that does.

Or for that matter, getting a clue of them before even BUYING THEM. — Oh wait, that’s what Trial-Mercs are supposed to be for…
@Nail Starry Never said those were her needs either. She just said it would be nice if this addition, that he DID ask for (Since he requested OW-like training area, which allows you TO TEST ABILITIES as well), was encompassed because there’s more utility to be had from it than just learning to aim. If you’re going to point out something about what someone said, at least read that they’re not pointing you out for anything in the first place.
Edit: Specifically, what OP asked for WAS a training map similar to OW.
“Dirty bomb should have a legit training map, like overwatch.”
His REASONS/NEEDS are different. Thanks for being helpful with what you offered to him. Forums are meant for expansion upon ideas, not just answering questions etc. And that is what Starry was doing wonderfully without being rude.
OP asked a SPECIFIC question, how to improve aim, that’s all OP asked for, I answered, now I got 2 clowns on me trying to school me on forum use, sod off
Might want to try Kovaak’s FPS Aim Trainer. Unfortunately, he hasn’t put up any vids recently so all I have to show you is this really old version of it. Basically it’s a “game” that let’s you recreate most other game’s movement, hitbox sizes, weapons, and maps so that you can practice really specific scenarios. The vid goes over most of the core features, but he’s cleaned up the UI a lot since then and has added some nice preset scenarios for hitscan tracking and projectile aim.
I’ve always wanted a training room or something to test out mercs and practice aim. If you remember the tutorial before the one we have today, there was a practice range that I really appreciated. I’m hoping SD can do something of the sort, even if it is not in their priority right now.
it was talked about for quite a while and although it was agreed a training mode would be great there was no definitive answer if or when
If you’re looking to generally improve at movement and aiming the Assault Course is always a good choice to check out. Granted you can only use Skyhammer in it, but it sounds like it’s just generally gameplay you want to improve on.
There’s a lot of good ideas in here and we’ve thought about a lot of them ourselves already. A training map with AI is possible, but we have a ton of other things which we need to work on and complete before we think about starting on another feature.
For now, try and make the most out of the Assault Course. I still can’t hit Cobalt :’(

Fair enough. But it is still better than nothing and at the moment the closest we get to it (hence the only reason I referred to it as such) and honestly no AI at present is gonna be an accurate representation of playing against an actual person enough to serve as worthwhile practice without expending a large amount of time on it (which we all know is currently focused elsewhere in this game right now). I personally would rather them focus on fixing glaring issues before expending the time on such a thing (of which we still have plenty in need of fixing).
