Proxxy, as the newest member in the Jackal team, was merrily walking towards the Jackal virus extraction unit, with a CDA case filled to the brim of deadly, deadly virus and bacteria. Sliding the case into its slot, she input the security code as her fellow mercenaries formed a protection circle around her, guns pointed outside in a star-shaped formation of death. The wind howled and somewhere outside of vision, a scream was heard. It sounded like the enemy sharpshooter had finally encountered Phantom and was paying the prize. With a cheerful beep, the lights on the extraction unit turned from red to green and a helicopter roared overhead, sending a gust of wind and lifting up the dust created from so many explosions and bullet holes. Covering their eyes, the only mercenary unfazed by the dust was Proxxy, who had pulled down her welding mask and looked up to the Jackal helicopter.
From it came out six cables that latched on to the EU, and with a loud snap, began to reel it into the specialized compartment of the chopper. Once that was done, the helicopter roared away into the early afternoon sun. Silence reigned and then a loud whoop emanated from the team of mercenaries. The mission was done, cash was flowing into their bank accounts and it was time to have fun. Skyhammer checked his watch. It was roughly seven p.m, which meant his favorite pub was open and they could all go have a fun time and welcome Proxxy officially to the team.
Skyhammer had not trusted Proxxy when she first joined Jackal after leaving CDA with Phantom. Then during this mission, he had gotten ready to run to cover and plant C4 into the barricade generator room when Proxxy had suddenly held his shoulder. Silently, she pointed at the road between them and the room. Then Skyhammer noticed something he hadn’t noticed before. Laser points dotted the road between the generator room. Skyhammer looked approvingly toward Proxxy and called Phantom and Vassili over to them.
A moment of silence followed his request and then Phantom decloaked right next to Proxxy while Vassili dropped down from his perch right next to Skyhammer. “They have a bloody artillery specialist. Do something about it, otherwise, we are roasted merc.” Nodding, Phantom vanished again and Vassili threw a tiny white ball.
After a couple of seconds, Vassili put his finger to his team com and established a link with Phantom. “Tango located on Whisky corridor next to Charlie sector.” Nothing happened for a minute, then suddenly a scream filled the air and the three mercenaries ran towards the generator room.
“Alright, ya goons. Who’s up for a round at the Twin Lions?” The team shuffled around, unsure of whether to take him up on his offer. “I’m picking up the tab.” At that, the team shifted personality and started packing up, getting ready for a rowdy night out.
Having walked back to their deployment site, Skyhammer packed his guns inside the back of his massive SUV. Opening the driver door, he sat on the custom leather seat and pulled on his leather driving gloves. The sunglasses compartment opened and he put on a pair of one way Raybans. He pulled half his body over the window and smacked the side of the door loudly. “Transport to one hell of a night going out! Get yer tickets while they bloody last!”
Doors opened, people shuffled past each other and seat belts clicked into place. Phantom got in the co-pilot seat and clicked on his seatbelt. Looking behind, Skyhammer was pleased to see that everyone was ready to go. Turning the ignition, the motor roared to life and they sped away in a cloud of gasoline smoke.
Looking behind, Phantom double checked everyone had everything they had brought since it was a hassle to come back and find whatever they had misplaced. Catching Proxxy’s eye, he stared until she looked at him, at which he winked an eye and turned to look forward.
Proxxy had bee deep in thought when she felt like someone was watching her. Looking from the window, she saw Phantom looking at her from all the way at the front. Winking at her, he turned forward and had begun to talk to Skyhammer of the mission.
Sparks, who was seated beside Proxxy, had an amused smile on her face. Proxxy looked at the white haired woman. “What? What is so funny?” Sparks quickly looked away, muttering that is was nothing, she had just remembered something funny.
“Such a weird team…” Proxxy thought, dozing off.
