A good idea

(Supersneaky) #1

I’d love to see an option with trade-up/trade-in to get the loadout card you want instead of praying for the 1/9 chance.

Would be happy to pay twice as many credits to pick the card i want, for eg. 6 golds and 20k credits to pick the cobalt of my choice!

Any other suggestions that would make it “fair” to earn the card you’d like?

(Dysfnal) #2

Idk, it would hurt the rarity of good cobalt cards, I am probably alone, but I like the current state of trade ups

(ZeSpecter) #3

Certainly more rewarding when you finally get the cobalt you want, I like the current system too actually. Would still prefer if there was no chance of getting exact same loadout back when you trade in though.

Just gotta add… 1/9 for stuff you pay real money for with absolutely no chance of getting rid of the loadout if it sucks or you don’t want it is just insane and complete bullshit. Still butthurt over that last incident… what a way to treat paying players damn.

Don’t really mind wild RNG for pure cosmetics. They could probably find a way to reduce RNG for cosmetic trades for money though.

The first thing which comes to my mind, when i read “good idea” in the thread title, is that it will contin an bad idea… however, guess thats just me.

Games always rely on RNG for making things hard to get, to keep it simple take drops from monster in any RPG, the good stuff will be random to keep the people entertained and give them a good feeling once they got it. If you get something 100% you wont get the “oh yay-feeling” from it (because you knew that it will be there after youre done with your thingy) which keeps us addicted to games. (We are no different than drugjunkies, while our drug is that feeling when you finally got what you wanted… .)

So far for the common knowlegde about games and their way of making you addicted to kill your real-life.

About your idea, first i have to say if, you would not just need to double the credits because 10k more credits is nothing, NOTHING!!! (Maybe) even x10 the amount of credits needed wouldnt be enough. Doubling the Gold-loadouts and x5 the Credits needed is pretty much the minimum to me. (Because unlike you bug around like me and get the same loadout everytime you trade up, the chance is 1/9 to get the “best”/your desired loadout. Doubling the costs is nothing.(costs=gold cards, because each costs around 200-300k average, the 10k credits arent the expensive part of the trade-up!))

It wont change because RNG is part of every game and will always be, because thats the thing which keeps us addicted to it. If you know exactly what you will get no matter what you do, you will get boored quite fast because you will never feel that “oh my god i just dropped that super rare dipshit”.

But I feel trade in should remove the cards you are trading in for from the outcome.

Another thing I don’t like about RNG is that if they decide to add more skins your chances with RNG become smaller with every new skin. 1/27 for gold rarity is small enough already.

(ClemClem7) #7

@Weekendwarrior
So if you remove already own loadouts from trade in, how can you trade in for a crown gold with 2 same loadout in bamboo ? Some people just love the crown and don’t want cobalt. If they have the loadout they want in bamboo, it’s not fair for them to remove loadouts from the outcome. All is question of Point of View.

Tl;dr (or not explicit enough):
A31 bamboo + A31 Swiss -> A31 Crown
With your proposition above (can’t quote on mobile), you just can’t do that.

(Weekendwarrior) #8

@ClemClem7 Oh right didn’t think that through. Good point. o:)

Hmm maybe removing the same skin of the same loadout. I just don’t want trading in only to get the exact same thing it really is a big slap in the face. Only for silver to cobalt of course.

(Jostabeere) #9

“Good” is relative.

(frostyvampire) #10

That will ruin the rarity of items.
It’s basically the same as making you able to choose any tradeup result skin in csgo. Dragon Lore will then become 2$ and the entire economy and rarity of items will crash.
We don’t want that to happen

(Supersneaky) #11

@FrostyVampire this is true however there is no trading atm so it’s not as bad.

I do agree that making the cost much higher would be fairer, maybe even have it so you can buy exclusive cases for silver/gold/cobalt that has every merc rng but for a high cost like for eg. 200k/400k/700k credits.

(Nibbles02) #12

With steam trading of the cards, issues like this will essentially disappear because you’ll be able to buy the cards or trade for them with other players and everyone can get what they want. I agree they should keep the RNG with card generation but reduce the cost of trading in cards so that you don’t lose a card or two every time time you trade in useless loadouts for ones you want, and only lose the credits.

(Supersneaky) #13

@Nibbles when is the steam trading available or is it out now? Cause id happily trade my cobalts for others!

(inscrutableShow) #14

They have no current plans to add trading. the sound of a thousand players crying their eyes out

(Xyfurion) #15

It’s all cosmetic really; you can get the same card in bronze. Personally, I don’t mind the current system as it is more rewarding when you get the card you want. As long as I don’t have to pay real cash for some RNG nonsense, and as long as it’s not a grind to get credits, I am fine.

They have plans to add trading, just no ETA.

(Nibbles02) #17

Yeah, it was in one of their comments on a forum topic in General, I don’t remember which because I never followed the topic, and I don’t believe they announced it or tweeted about it.

(doxjq) #18

Actually not a silly idea.

Tbh I’d pay cash to trade up if I could pick which primary gun and then only deal with a 1/3 chance instead of 1/9. Nothing worse than wanting a Grandeur Aimee and getting a Felix Aimee, or wanting a Stark Kira and getting a Dreiss Kira etc. It’s half the reason I never trade up to cobalt for mercs with terrible odds. I only do cobalt trades for mercs who have 3 primary guns I actually like.

(doxjq) #19

They have no concrete plans to add trading, but they do apparently want to do it eventually. They’ve said that multiple times here on the forums and on their streams.

(Supersneaky) #20

@Dox thus the reason I’m keeping all my good gen 1 loadouts incase they do have steam trading at some point.
