epic should have followed suit with xmp, it was released so long after u2 that its a joke, and it would have gotten them more players for ut2k4
a financial "oops" to abandon et?
The only reason I play it, is because RtCW was such a massive hit, that any sequel was definately gunna be in “Most Wanted” hit list.
The fact it was free was a bonus, but if they had of charged us for the priviledge, then I would have dug deep into my “often empty” pockets just for the MP side.
Of course the single player would have been nice, but hey ho, at least they would have had the Story Line ready made, and as stated in previous (optomistic) comments, perhaps now that the public has spoken, and the obvious success of the free release, maybe, (Just open ASE and see how many ppeps are actually playin), Just maybe, some bright spark will see the marketability of RtCWII.
As far as WWII FPS MP goes… none come close.
Erm OK, it’s pooooooossible. But given multiplayer Doom3 is what, 8 (or is it 4) players maximum, there’s a hell of a distance between that and even a normal 6 vs 6 clan match - let alone the 64 player servers that are out there.
The Doom 3 engine will need some serious dumbing down to handle more players in-game at once, and without more players, it just wouldn’t be an online game in the way we know it.[/quote]
I’m thinking that improvements will be made to the engine and the capability to run larger games will follow. The product (D3) isn’t done and released yet. Then again, this is based on my baseless presumption that there will be a RtCW follow-up based on the D3 engine. Its all quesswork…
