A Few Words (and Numbers!) on Loadout Card Crafting & Recycling

(ClemClem7) #41

It’s normal to make cobalt hard to reach, but the new system make it one way to go, from bronze to cobalt without other rarity. It’s better to never do intermediate craft because of the cost in credits which don’t change if you crafted cobalt with recycled gold or with recycled leads.
With trade up, we had checkpoint in the road to cobalt.
I played a lot with 383 bronze, then silver and then gold (after 16 trade up), and finally I still wait for it to drop in cobalt, but I can play it in gold.
With new system, it’s better to play always in bronze until you drop it in cobalt. We will see less cards in silver in the far future I think.

Apart from that, the almost 1:1 ration for the trade in is the step in the right direction, even if I never do it because I just want cobalt 383.

So 20k fragments AND 50k credits for a cobalt, what the actual fuck is this price. You need 10 golds to get 20k fragments, and then pay 50k credits to get the cobalt. With the old system you needed only 6 gold and 10k credits. The only thing that is cheaper with this new system is if you are trading up all the way from lead to cobalt. I guess I’ll be trading up my useless gold cards before this goes live.

@ClemClem7
Well to be honest pretty much all the low rarity skins are kinda meh.
Silver skins are kinda boring
Gold is nice but still not too great
Cobalt looks really good (at least shard does, fragment is nice but not as great) and also the look of the loadout card itself is really cool (the blue background with purple lightning). I will tradeup all my gold cards to cobalt once I get the 6th gold (gotta hurry) and then I will only use bronzes and cobalts (unless I unbox a silver/gold).

What most people will probably do (at least I will do it and it’s the smart thing to do) is use only bronze loadouts for mercs they don’t play much (like Fragger for me) and cobalt for mercs they play more (Vassili for me) and silver/gold cards will only be used if you unboxed them

(Trestos) #44

Is there a release date for it?

(ClemClem7) #45

@FrostyVampire
I see what you mean, but for many people, they just want to upgrade their cards.
Personally I only want a silver A31 and I will have every bests (for me) cards for all mercs in silver and more.
The new system will make me only recycle when Ill have enough cards to craft a cobalt, but gold and silver will loose their value in crafting. Then people will have more and more cards, just like exedore didn’t want as he says on one of his stream (the booster one iirc) when asked for a function to buy multiple cases at once. And finally they did this function (thanks @Exedore and all the team) but we regress on the trade system.
I think I’m not alone who will regret our dear trade up system. Even it’s too slow to trade from lead to cobalt. This system will make us loose less time in menu, but with the casual matchmaking, we have this time as we wait for a game.

(BananaSlug) #46

I can see it already coming, you will have to drag every card manually with the mouse towards the “recycle” field… and press “yes youre sure you want to recycle this card” and after that another field with “are you sure” will appear…, solely for the convenience naturally. :smirk:

PS:Well, Cobalts getting more expensive by quite the big margin. Only thing which may balance it out a little are the improved drop rates of irons+ from cases… . Can’t tell how i feel about this but i’ll keep my salt for myself since it’ll likely change before it’s final release.[/quote]

nope! they had buttons to recycle all leads, irons and duplicates soo that is less clicking

This looks like a good system, I just don’t like the 50k credit cost for a cobalt. I’d rather spend less and get a gold card.

(Trestos) #48

What is more worth?
A31 in cobalt or special event card?

I have a Containment a31 fletcher and a cobalt a31 fletcher

(SargentSpoon) #49

when you say that weapon kits are a very rare drop, do you mean rare as in has a drop rate or rare as in ‘i only have 9 boosters in the ReV event and am still waiting for the case drop’

(SlyWolf10) #50

I hope new players will not make easily a cobalt card. Because they need more than 864 leads+, like 1300 leads and 50k credits for a first cobalt
Or should they are try to unlock new merc ?
Most people switch to the game its free to play right. After all saw game is too hard to play & hard to make cards. As result quit from the game or uninstall the game.

(DMaster2) #51

Ok this is something i can dig. It’s very close to hearthstone’s arcane dust/crafting system.

(Exedore) #52

Sensing sarcasm, but no. We won’t implement drops via that method again.

(Xenithos) #53

Dude, Now I’m pissed. It came out TODAY!? I was ONE bronze and just the money for trade ups away to a cobalt!
NOW I NEED ANOTHER 50k Credits AND 5 more golds!? WTF!

The system is CHEAPER from LEADS, But it’s SO much more expensive from when you already had golds saved up. (Cries very much)

When you’re literally 97ish % of the way to a cobalt. And now you’re less than half.

Nice, was gonna trade up my golds to cobalt since it’s fucking expensive with the new system, but since they don’t even want to tell us when the update goes live before it does I wont have the chance. Can we please keep the old system along with the new one so we can use the one we want?

Watch this video from Cliff. He covers the problems with this update perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCVkBYNuFuk

(FalC_16) #55

I just recycled all my leads and irons…I’m now like…wait a second…what if they roll out an event where you will be getting more fragments for each rarity recycled ^^ daam

In any case the new system looks very promising…now can’t wait to know more about how to get the weapon kit other than from arsenals…

(ProfPlump) #56

This is completely non-intuitive, and the old system was perfectly understandable. Whether or not you developers want to make it cheaper or more expensive to get a Cobalt, you’ve definitely failed in making it “more intuitive”, as you’ve claimed.

When your playerbase is having to scroll through forums to try to understand what Weapon Kits are and what the hell they do and how you can get them, you know you’ve failed to provide information for them in-game.

(BulletKin) #57

My thoughts about these changes:
EDIT: i was wrong, this isn’t the healthy version of the system, this is much worse: while it introduces the possibility to craft any loadout rarity, it has too much problems (has explained by Cliff in his video)
In this game there is still no way to get a card that you want. Potentially, you can go on for years without gettin a precise card, cause of RNG. And at the same time somenone else can find the perfect loadout at the first try.
And this is bad, because great cards so aren’t a merit…if i see an enemy with a great loadout i don’t think “wow he/she’s great at this game”, great loadout make me think "what a lucky ba*rd"
Why can’t we have a system that awards us for what we have done, for what we deserve, instead of the same old sh
ty RNG? weapon kits are only an illusion cause they make it less random but it’s still random and for good loadouts we still need a ton of them, considerin they are rare drop from a rare case.
Never thought of a system that has higher values for crafting but gives the right cards you want? It’d be hard anyway to reach cobalts, but at least it’d be equal, fair.

(BulletKin) #58

EDIT: deleted this cause it was the same exact comment as the one before, due to an error.

(ProfPlump) #59

This is stupid - Cobalts SHOULD be hard to acquire and SHOULD cost an absolute tonne of credits. Now we’re just going to see everyone running around with them, since they cost less than a sixth of what they used to.

Now there’s just less to strive for. If new players want cheap cards, they can go for Silvers and Golds, and the Cobalts can remain for the really devoted players. But NOW, the highest ranking rarities are easier to get than ever before (and you can even choose which loadout you want to get, so you don’t need to craft multiple Cobalts before you get the one you want).

Basically, you’ve just made your rare items into easy-to-acquire items that everyone can get for a tiny fraction of their usual cost. That’s idiotic.

(Plus, it’s WAY more confusing now, what with Weapon Kits and all that which have no in-game information whatsoever).

(ClemClem7) #60

The right way they should have implemented to save time and clicks to craft a cobalt is the same system as crafting, but costs of crafting depends on which card you recycled.
I explain:
You want a bronze, you have 6 leads and 1 iron.
You recycle 6 leads and 1 iron, and then you spend 1000 (cost of bronze trade up) + 2*500 (price of 2 trade up from lead to iron)
Then you have a bronze without trade for 2 irons, then change rarity…

Other example:
You want a gold, you have:
-1 silver
-2 bronzes
-6 irons
-72 leads

You need all these cards AND 32000 credits:
-(3+1)/44000 for the final craft.
-(10+2)/4
2000 for the bronze to silver
-(24+6)/3 *1000 for the iron to bronze trade
-(72/3)*500 for the leads to iron trade

This system is transparent from trade up and just save our time when we want to jump over a rarity (if you don’t want bronzes or iron, you don’t have to do the trade up for these rarity)

If we want this with crafting, we need spending credits to recycle cards and not for crafting a card, it’s weird but it’s the way trade up was working. And it’s more logic than crafting.

*All this is about crafting, the update was great apart from the new system.
