A few suggestions

Hi there,

Just saw the Brink videos. Very, very cool! I’m intrigued.
Looks like something I can look forward to!

A few things I noticed:
• The movement (walking) is too ‘wiggly’ for my taste
• The enemy A.I. looks stupid (could’ve been toned down of course for the purpose of showcasing the game)
• Ragdoll-animations look stiff

I know this game won’t release anytime soon and that there’s more than enough time to work on things, so I’m confident that it will KICK ASS when it’s done.

One last thing (but this goes out to ALL developers): For online cooperative/competitive on PlayStation Network, please integrate the PSN’s new Invite/Join Session-functionality (You know, accepting invites from anywhere and Joining Sessions through XMB). Modern Warfare 2 is the first game that uses this and it works fantastic. This should be mandatory for all future games. Finally some concistency on the PlayStation Network…

Good luck!

Welcome to the forums! Be careful with judging pre-alpha footage though.

Browse the forums here, you’ll find SD are a very community active developer and you’ll see a lot of info and explanation from them.

Regarding your points, SD have confirmed this is a much earlier build and lots of stuff is changed already.

Thank you!

I will be very careful. Promise.

Yeah, I noticed. Very nice.
I’m already reading these threads. Great info so far. Anticipation +10!

Yeah, the new PS3 network stuff is quite nice! Rest assured we are checking it out

Good to hear that!

So how does that work, if I may ask? Is this something that Sony presents to you in new Dev-kits? Do they ‘suggest’ to use this, rather than custom invites, or is it something that’s hidden somewhere in the documentation of new FW updates, for developers to find out for themselves?

I think Sony should make this new and improved invite/join-functionality mandatory, just like they did with Trophies.

honestly, i don’t know how it works :o Ed Reid (our chief network code guru) spends a lot of time studing all sort of documentation from Sony, MS, and Steam to learn all the ins and outs of each system. We’ve got reps at Sony and MS that give us heads up on new features that are being worked into the systems. Etc. But it’s all over my head, and it’s just that Ed lets us know “well, this feature can work these different ways” type stuff while we’re talking through how all the online stuff will work…

Does that mean Steam is confirmed or is it still just the intended direction but might change?

(kilL_888) #11

my intention says me, why would a dev study something (steam tech) if its not for any purpose in the game? so, i guess, they are at least “considering” using steam as a (publishing) platform

steam is used by a lot of people, all of my friends use it for cod6, cough, so wouldnt be a bad idae of actually using the steam stuff.

(badman) #12

We are looking at Steam for the PC version, yes. Can’t say much more than that at the moment, though.

I would love the option to ‘embed’ my game into steam so I can install it wherever I go without using the disc.
