A few Really Quick Suggestions For Spectator Mode...

(PixelTwitch) #1

1, Give us the option to choose what colour represents each team (even if its via config files) and/or allow us to remove the “glow” from players full stop - This would be really useful for us content creators that want to record some decent stuff.

2, Allow us to spectate other spectators - This means we can cast from a single view or have a dedicated camera man during casts. Also quickly allow us to see what someone else is talking about.

3, More detailed TAB menu. Kills, Deaths, Heals, Revives, Assists, Objectives, Ammo, and all that jazz.

4, Set camera positions on a map that we can possess quickly using the F-Keys. For example on the objectives and attached to the back of a EV.

6, Outlines though walls - Allow us to see enemy players outline so we know exactly where they are and how close as well as what Merc it is.

  1. Detailed projectile trails - Sure you know what I mean, think CS:GO spectator.

8, Allow us to scale player names and have a more detailed health bar.

9, Third person cam on players.

10, More detailed map.

Obviously missing a lot of things I could mention but I assume they are coming… Stuff like ammo counts, cool downs and the like.

I have a massive of list of things I’d like us to add spectator mode, all of these are already on it

More suggestions are welcome though! Just bear in mind spectator mode isn’t a high priority feature right now, it’s somewhere in the middle.

9, Third person cam on players.

-possibility to scroll how far camera is from the player
-free look with sticky 3rd cam (so you could look behind the player - like in most RPGs - Kotor, Morrowind etc)

Yea I totally understand mate.

HOWEVER!!!
It would be really cool if removing the colour overlays could be an option ASAP!
Right now player education is a high priority to new players and simple camera view and private server is going to help so many of us content creators start throwing out tips and tricks videos.

Everything else though, I totally understand being further down the line.

Would it be possible for a privileged client to request a replay (say the last 30 seconds around a particular player) then queue those replays up until the end of the half/game? Basically, give solo casters some of the toys that a production suite and 10 first-person feeds would give.

I guess you would need demo recording/playback implemented first.

just give us a objective progress bar that actually shows something, the current objective progress bar is confusing to say the least. Especially to people new to SW format. Picture is my insane photoshop skills but you get the idea, bars grey at start, fill with color of attacking team, triangles indicate at what time a team did an objective(only shows primaries). Other team attacks you can easily read out how fast teams are compared to eachother and how much progress they have in the blink of an eye, especially to new SW viewers this gives them a very quickly way of knowing what map progression there is.

And BIG WORD of the player we are specing…
Or RED BOX…

And better you killed or you were killed by.

absolutely!!

(chump) #9

hitsounds for spec please

(Sagan_on_Roids) #10

I would love to see an directed camera mode too, where the best angles/shots would be determined automatically rather than via a cameraman. I think LoL/Dota/CS:GO have this.

Make it like borderlands, damage pops out for each hit. In spectator only of course. And optional. This way we can better see when someone is landing every shot.

(fubar) #12

Spectator antilag + hitsounds. Feels so wrong watching someone shoot, be a hundred miles off and get the kill. Also, everyone loves hearing a ding or two.

(INF3RN0) #13

This. Even if it will take some time to get good spec to player sync, hitsounds provide enough information to know whether they are hitting or missing shots.
